Chess: Beginners & Intermediate; Openings, Strategies & Endgames (Puzzle Power)

Very easy to follow, and suitable for up to intermediate players
This book is very clear and uses very big colourfull illustrations of the board, it also explains the terminology of the board early on and you follow it afterwards. I looked at a few books before choosing this one (albeit based on reviews) The one bad review doesn't seem to have any basis in fact. As the foreward has been written by a grandmaster. It begins with some intro to the game then moves into openings, middlegame and end game strategies, after reading the first bit on openings my game was already improved. Its about 1.5 inches larger than A5 size so i presume it was a smaller book, but i guess thats good for ease of reading. But its not pocket sized by any means. However it is spiral bound which i was looking for so it would lie flat. All in all I can recommend this book, if your in any way advanced I wouldn't get it as it goes over the basics which would be a waste for you .. Happy playing with this book.

Excellent book
Having not played since I was a kid half a century ago, the book has proved to be an excellent refresher and also improved my game and tactics.

Spiral book so easy to use.
Bought for my sister and she was thrilled. The spiral version makes it so much easier to use when trying out some of the games. Would defo recommend.

Try something else
The descriptions are easy to understand and the graphics are very clear. If you are a total beginner this would give you a basic understanding of how to play chess and some idea of what to look at next to improve your game. However, if you're looking to move from beginner to intermediate this isn't the book for you.

Don't buy this!
The book has a whole chapter upside down and out of chronological order
