Environmental Engineering: FE Review Manual

I took the EIT once and failed. But NCEES provided me a sheet that lists the subjects I performed low in. I used this book to enhance my understanding of those topics.There is a large number of mistakes in the book. But after I used this book. So I cant complain.

Good preparation book.Most of the content is theory. Only 10 to 12 exercises per subject. However, it cover all the subjects. Something difficult to find specially when looking for Fe environmental preparation materials.The book came like the packing person did not want to pack it lol...many scratches on the cover (see picture).

Great review book with a ton of problems, in detail explanations of topics and helpful examples of typical FE problems!

This book has a good overview of many important topics for the exam. If you are brushing up on information that you have not used in a while, the chapters can be very helpful. However, there are NUMEROUS errors in the math in the example problems (within chapter) as well as practice problems (at end of chapter). For a book meant to prepare you for a technical exam, where miscalculations can be your downfall, this is unacceptable. The amount of times i thought i was doing something wrong only to realize the authors rounded poorly, left out a variable, or simply used the wrong number in a calculation was WAY TOO HIGH. If you are buying this book for the information, it is a good aid, but make sure you get a legit NCEES FE exam to practice with, as the problems in this book are likely wrong.

Great in theory, covers all the topics and great questions and examples. However, A LOT of typos. I feel like I’m using the wrong equation because the wrong letter is in the chart/solution, but it’s just a typo and you really need to be cautious. I would definitely look at other books before this one because the typos can catch you off guard, but it is very helpful if you play close attention and can catch the errors.

The book has not been kept up-to-date. As a result many references to the FE Reference Manual that is used for the exam are incorrect. In at least one case the author references a section of the manual that does not exist. In several places, the formula used in the review guide are in a different format from the FE Reference Manual. There are a surprising number of editing errors. When I tried to find the errata for the book at the link provided in the book, it was not there. Sent an email to the customer service address at the link but have not received any response. The book does provide a lot of example problems but some of them seem to be on material that is not covered by the exam.

The book has enough summary for each section involving in the FE Environmental exam, including some example supporting the concepts. At the end of each section there are some practice problem with solution. For some sections the number of practice problem and examples would be better if it was more, however the references at the end of each chapter can guide you for the original source if you need to study deeper.I bought the book a month before my test, read all the chapters and solve the problems and had no problem in the FE exam afterward. And I think it is a good source for FE environmental exam and worth it to read.

100% recommended. It covers all of the topics for the Environmental FE Exam (in the state of Washington anyway), you wouldn't need any other textbook as this book goes through all of the topics with practice problems and solutions to each practice problem on separate pages.
