Giving this a 5 star rating when 4.5 stars is probably more accurate but my almost 13 year old son had an absolute blast building these and they work really well! The instructions aren’t as clear as they could be and he had to dismantle and rebuild at least one because of a finicky lever (again, instructions) but overall we are impressed by the quality and durability. Definitely recommend!

Got this for my 7 year old niece. Enjoyed assembling it with her and instructions are presented well enough that a 7 year old can follow them. I highly recommend this kit for anyone wanting to get a young one to put forth some effort.

The Catapult works amazing and is fun to launch. The Ballista was a good idea but the launcher bar broke while putting it together. Bombard (cannon) works very similar to the catapult. Catapult projectiles are pretty small so be sure to keep away from smaller children. Depending on age of child, adult definitely needs to help with the build

Easy to put together. Functional. Caution - the ballista has a kick to it. It doesn't "pew-womp-womp" it "thwps" or "shnks" the target across the room.

These are VERY cool. This set comes with 3 DaVinci inventions; catapult, bombard, and ballista. The catapult chucks little dime sized wooden "balls" across the room. The bombard chucks nickel sized wooden "balls" across the room. The ballista chucks a little wooden dart across the room. This set is pretty nifty in that its an entire "battalion" of siege weapons. We purchased this for our 12 yr old son who enjoys building legos and other crafty building sets. Each of these took him a few hours to get together. Each set is packaged separately and comes with plenty of ammo. As these are balsa wood sets, some care and sanding is required when popping out each piece. Our son did break a few pieces here and there but nothing that was irreversibly damaged or a little wood glue fixed 'er right up. I would say this kit should have some adult supervisor for any kids under 10. These are proudly displayed in my sons room on his desk and I enjoy firing a couple salvos across his room from time to time. I'm impressed at how far and hard these things shoot. DO NOT shoot at faces or animals. Once assembled, these are actually pretty sturdy models that handle being fired pretty well. I also enjoyed the little write ups they had for each of these weapons in the booklet. Definitely recommend for your kids that are starting to advance past the Lego phase of building.

My 11 year old loves Da Vicini and nationalgeographic. Perfect duo. Perfect gift. He built them all in one day.

I did appreciate the laser cut pieces. They punched out cleanly, had no issues with pieces chipping or breaking out of the sheet. The directions are lacking...well, direction. They're hard to decipher at times. The pieces are very tight fitting so good luck trying to go back to fix anything. Sorta frustrating to build to be honest.

Well made. The assembly of each of the 3 projects was easy. You might need a few drops of a better quality wood glue to hold all parts together after you sand off the burrs. It’s a great STEM project for older children. It’s incredible just how far the projectiles can launch, so be sure you have an open area without people or delicate objects. Definitely, a win for inquisitive little inventors.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 11 year old. We didn’t really know what to expect. My husbands initial reaction after assembly was that they were smaller than he was expecting, but let me tell you, mighty things come in small packages. We had a blast assembling these as a family. Definitely will need assistance from an adult to assemble. They are individually packaged with easy to follow instructions. They launch the included projectiles further and with more force than I could have imagined! My 11 and 5 year old didn’t wast any time setting up their army guys so they could use the catapult, bombard, and ballista, to launch projectiles at them. The instruction books also include information about the science behind these contraptions. I would definitely recommend this product!

The inventions are easy enough to build, but not overly simple. I also liked that he could keep using them after they were built. He’s already asking if there’s more of these we can buy!

Tarde como dos horas para armar los tres, muy sencillo si lees bien las instrucciones ,batalle mucho con el cañón por no leer bien, y la madera de la ballesta venía un poco doblada y al forzarla se rompió un poco, lo arregle con cinta, dice que ocupas pegamento de forma opcional, yo lo hice sin pegamento y funciona muy bien
