Very well written, easy to follow for non-Kashmiris
I am very pleased with this purchase. I looked at a few recipes for dishes that I am already good at and the recipes here made total sense, this gives me confidence to try some new recipes. It is easy to see the effort that has gone into writing this book and why it is so popular. More than half the food I cook is already Kashmiri but I am looking forward to surprising my husband with (new to me) dishes that he should remember from his childhood in Srinagar. Our daughters already love Kashmiri food. I hope to use this book to get them to try cooking a few easy things on their own.

Easy and tasty Kashmiri Pandit cooking
I am a Kashmiri Pandit that has lived in the US for a decade and never cooked our ethnic food as I thought it was tedious and required more than the basic training my parents gave me.This book made the difference.I now try a recipe every now and then .Simple, authentic and delicious.Particularly easy to get ingredients since she gives American/international names .

A must buy !!!
If Kashmiri cuisine were a subject, this book deserves to be the required text ! It arrived yesterday and I am speechless after reading it. To call it a book is an understatement. Going through the first few pages itself shows the pains that the author has gone through, to make the reader well versed with everything associated with Kashmiri cuisine. From the Kashmiri, Hindi and English names of vegetables, utensils, spices to the detailed description on peeling and washing certain items( with pictures!) this book is a dummy's guide to Kashmiri cooking. While one may find many books with Kashmiri cuisine this book's USP lies in the way it connects you to the Kashmiri culture. There are details of the occasions on which particular dishes are prepared and even recommendations on where to buy certain vegetables (outside India). I didn't know I could actually find sotchal at a korean store! My cousin is getting married this year and is going to move to UK. Needless to say this book goes with her. I am sure she would thank me more than her own mother!Thankyou Mrs Ganju for this wonderful book. Although I feel that the exteriors of the book (cover, pictures, paper/font etc) could have been much better...I am sure its unmatchable when it comes to the content!!

Wonderful Collection
I spent many years in India and visited Kashmir quite often. I was fortunate to enjoy wonderful food in many different homes. Kashmiri cuisine was always my personal favorite. It has all the best qualities of the North Indian cuisine featured in restaurants, but it has its own unique and rich flavors. After returning home I always wished I knew how to cook Kashmiri recipes. At last it is possible to do so. This book contains a large and comprehensive selection of recipes popular within the Kashmiri community, particular among the Pundits. The recipes are very easy and quick to make, yet they taste utterly authentic. Mrs. Ganju rightly points out that one should experiment with the proportions of the spices to suit one's personal taste. This is how it's done in Kashmiri homes. I highly recommend this book to those who are familiar with and who long for Kashmiri food--it will bring you back to the shores of Dal and Nagin Lakes. I especially recommend it to those who like Indian food in general and want to try something delicious and not generally known in restaurants.

complements and compliments her website nicely.
I use her recipes from her website [...] quite frequently and bought the book to extend my repertoire and knowledge of kashmiri cuisine. The book has more recipes than the websoite. She was also nice enough to respond to my email request for a particular recipe of 'Monj aachaar'. Thank you.

Four Stars
Recipes are very good. However coloured pictures would have been more appealing.

Good content. Bad pages and binding.
The content of this book is A++But the entire book is grayscale (yes I know it's mentioned in the title too) and printed on really really cheap printer paper.you are better off buying the colored version any day. The pages are being ripped on the seams here and it just has an overall tacky feel for a book which has such excellent content. If you are gonna use this book a lot (which if regardless you're Kashmiri you will immediately fall in love with) buy the other version so that the entire thing doesn't disintegrate in your hands.
