A must have safety device for your house or work-shop/work-place
Portable multi-gas monitors are vital in protecting you from the hazards of toxic and combustible gases in confined spaces and dangerous work environments. Typical four gas monitors use an explosive meter multi-gas detector to detect combustible gas (methane, LPG, hexane, propane), carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, & oxygen deficiency/enrichment. Other multi gas detectors are available to detect other specific gases, such as ammonia, chlorine, ethylene oxide, ozone, phosphine styrene and sulfur dioxide. This particular model however, will focus on those four essential but dangerous gases: H2S, O2, CO and LEL. LEL: Stands for “Lower Explosive Limit” and is the lowest concentration of a particular gas that has the potential to be flammable or combustible. In other words, it’s the minimum amount of gas that will catch fire or explode when an ignition source is present. If a gas concentration is less than the lower limit, there is insufficient gas for the mixture to ignite. O2: Oxygen gas detectors will typically trigger an alarm when the oxygen level drops below 19.5 percent volume. The most common use of oxygen gas detection is in confined spaces, totally or partially closed areas not designed to be permanently occupied. CO: This is a poisonous, colorless and odorless gas that interferes with the blood’s ability to carry oxygen. Under normal operating conditions, well maintained and correctly ventilated gas appliances produce minimal CO, but high CO levels can occur if one or more of the following conditions exist: An appliance is faulty or poorly maintained. A flue is partially or totally blocked. The appliance is not installed in an adequately ventilated area. H2S: Hydrogen sulfide (also known as H2S, sewer gas, swamp gas, stink damp, and sour damp) is a colorless gas known for its pungent "rotten egg" odor at low concentrations. It is extremely flammable and highly toxic. As you see above, having this multi-gas detector could be a life saver in some situations. This particular model comes with a storage/transportation hard shell/case, along with its user manual and a Mini-USB to USB charging cable. It’s well build, rugged and also waterproof, which is great. It provides visual, audible and physical (vibrations) alarms, which you can’t miss in case of an emergency. Whether in a refinery, petrochemical or wastewater plant, or perhaps a warehouse or even your house (if you live in Ohio lately), it’s crucial to have a reliable gas detection system you can depend on. With nationally recognized hazardous area certifications, this multi-gas detector is guaranteed to safeguard your facility or your home.

Gas Meter
This is a nice little gas meter. I use meters at work- and am familiar with the professional grade 4 gas meter which this is emulating. This meter is decent. It detects oxygen, H2S, carbon monoxide, and 10% LEL of flammable gases. It is lightweight, rechargeable, and decently priced. I tested the meter by exposing it to car exhaust- it alarmed both visually with lights and audibly with an annoying beep for both CO and low oxygen environment- which would be expected. I also tested it with butane- which did not alarm, but I don't think I had enough concentration to make 10% of LEL. I don't have a source of H2S to test it, as it does not come with a calibration gas cylinder. From what I could test- it functions well. I like that it comes with a clip so that you can wear it on your belt or shirt when working in an environment such as a confined space that may have gas or low oxygen. It also returned to normal quickly when removed from the gas environment. I would not use this type of meter to pinpoint leaks as much as to test the safety of the air in an environment. A meter with a wand would be better for specific leak detection. While this will tell you that there is a presence of methane or propane (or any flammable hydrocarbons) in the area, it may not be specific enough to pinpoint the leak. It serves the purpose of a warning- if this is alerting- you need to be exiting the area to fresh air and calling a professional. Some things I don't like about this detector are the lack of a battery meter- I didn't see any way to know how much charge was left. The instructions were not great- and obviously poorly translated. I attached a photo of one page that actually says that they are purposely NOT including instructions on calibration as that is for professionals? Well as a professional- one still needs instructions to be able to perform calibration on this specific meter. It suggests to calibrate every so often- at least once a year- but with no included calibration gas- and no instructions, I'm not sure how they expect anyone to do that. While calibration gas kits are usually sold separately, there is no mention of which kit specifically this meter uses- or if one exists. There also doesn’t appear to be a way to perform a fresh air calibration (zeroing the sensors), nor any method to perform a bump test to confirm sensor response. Overall, this is a nice safety device for the individual. I do not think it is a professional grade meter like a hazmat team would use- but it is useful in the industrial setting or even at home to monitor the air for the presence of some of the top hazards. Anyone working with potentially dangerous environments should have something like this. Just be aware that without calibration gas or detailed instructions, long-term reliability may be limited. Still, for a quick check or added peace of mind in a potentially hazardous environment, this device is a worthwhile and inexpensive tool.

Easy to Use. Great Value. Feeling My Home/Office is Safer
With a gas water heater, furnace and dryer in my home/office, I've been concerned about not knowing about potential leaks. I picked up this unit to ensure all stays safe. With no experience in checking for explosive gases, I read the manual, looked over the device and went into each menu. From my perspective, the device did what I was hoping it would do by providing accurate sensors at a good value. It gave me a comfort level knowing my home is safe. Also, customer service was very quick and on-point in responding to my questions. The result is that the ADKS-4 Gas Detector is worth owning! Below are the details... OUT-OF-THE-BOX IMPRESSION 1. Manual is easy to read and understand. The rare broken-English is a non-issue. 2. [PIC 1] Pleasantly surprised at how easily it fit in my hand (size ~5 x 2 ½ x 1"). The readings shows the normal state of my home. 3. Incredibly sturdy back clip. 4. Unit is rechargeable with good battery life. 5. Screen is easy to read in a variety of conditions. When in dim surroundings, backlight is bright, but times out in quickly, within 5 seconds. Pressing the left arrow key instantly brings it back up. That said, having an option to increase the timeout length would be a welcome modification. 6. [PIC 2] Backside of unit is labeled with the production date and other useful info. I was glad that mine was made recently in April. MY EXPERIENCE I was surprised how simple this is to use. Basically, the default settings were sufficient for my needs. [PIC 3] Gas detected! To prove the unit could detect a gas leak, I took my gas grill lighter and allowed the gas to leak out of it with no flame. The device immediately alarmed with bright red flashing lights and loud beeps. It showed the Combustible (EX) category increased from 0% LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) to 100% and the Oxygen (O2) category diminished from 20.9% to 18.6%. [PICS 4, 5, 6] No gas leaks were found for my gas water heater, furnace and dryer -- Yay!

Gas Detector
My opinion is that this gas detector stands out from others available on the market due to the fact that it has many indications. You are certain to be informed of possible gas hazards in any situation thanks to the mix of vibration, loud warnings, and a visual display. It is essential to have this redundancy, particularly in conditions that are loud, visually hard, or both. Real-time gas concentration levels are shown on the LCD screen, which enables choices to be made quickly and with complete knowledge. One of the most notable benefits, in my opinion, is the ability to be recharged. When compared to alternatives that are disposable, the gas detector is a more cost-effective and environmentally responsible option since it can be recharged. An exceptional battery life allows the device to continue to function normally even after lengthy hours of usage without compromising its functionality. Having the knowledge that the gas detector will be ready to go whenever I need it is a great source of comfort.

POOR DISPLAY
I’m shocked that the manufacturer has this unit setup so that the display goes off almost immediately if you’re not constantly pressing a button. You must be able to see the display in order to read or set up the unit. The display kept going off so quickly that I could not even set the date or the time much less see any readings that were being displayed! How are you going to read the findings of the unit if the display continues to go dark Within three seconds of opening up a different screen? I’m speechless! I’m returning it. Of what uses it if you can’t read the display screen?

Decent quality gas detector
This gas detector works as expected. Since it’s our first time using a gas detector, our previous house didn’t have gas appliances, we had no clue where to start. Instruction is pretty detailed, shows how to use the device and a clear chart for us to learn/compare the readings, attached a photo to show the chart that I found helpful. Long press middle button to turn the device on or off. Readings will display in sequence. We had no problem using this to test near gas water heater, gas meter etc. I like that it comes with a wall plug along with the charging cord, saving us trouble of looking for one that would work specifically with it. And it comes with a nice permanent protective zippered case to storage everything in, better than a papered box that breaks apart over time. Overall a decent quality product.

budget friendly and does the job well
I think a gas detector is a must have for home renovation and remodeling. Our home is currently under renovation and we have a gas-powered furnace, water heater, stove and dryer. For safety reasons, we were looking for a portable unit that works well but does not break the bank and this portable gas detector does the job well. It comes with a carry case, charging cable and alligator clip on the back of the detector. It is about a hand size, lightweight and easy to operate. We do like the portability of the clock/time adjustment function which makes it handy for record keeping. We wish there's a SD card slot to collect readings but with this price tag, we are very happy with the unit and give us peace of mind in the event of a potential gas leak during our home renovation process.
