The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan

This is a truly wonderful read because the author, Kim Barker, is a character. Tall, unconventional, very bright, and more so, definitely determined. In writing about her life in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and, because she was a respected journalist, doors opened for her, she provides an insight into the daily lives of people, some of whom are today dying in the waters off Greece as they try to escape. It's a horrible topic made human and readable because Kim is a bit special.

More people will have heard of the above film of this book. I was impressed by the perseverance of this author who, as a female. did some hard stints in an unforgiving part of the wo.rld and an unenlightened profession.

Great picture of palistan and Afghanistan and the life reporters led.

Very genuine and enjoyable book of observations of a bystander looking in on the shambolic invasion of Afghanistan.
