A must read for every disciple
The Cost of Discipleship is an excellent tool on "What does it mean to be a disciple". Every Christians, especially the so-called "prosperity theologians" and their followers must read it before they die.I salute Dr. Bonhoeffer.

Poor Quality
The printing and paper quality is of the lowest standard. Sad to see that so much is charged for something that is ordinary in quality. Disappointing! Wouldn't recommend this print.

If you are a serious follower of Jesus the Messiah
If you are a serious follower of Jesus the Messiah, than this book is for you. The book starts with several pages of a short autobiography of Detrick. I didn't understand why, but once you see what a sold out man of God he was, eventually executed, you understand the book's purpose better. It starts with "Cheap Grace" and what we have done with it in our western culture. Next, a great principle, obedience. All the people Jesus called, they either left to follow Him immediately, or made excuses why they could not at that time. Great book from a long time ago.Kirk C.

The Logos makes this book worth the time to study!
Nearly every other page had some highlighting. This book was written in a time of great turmoil for a German culture that reflected the absence of a doctrinally sound church led by men who refused to stand as the author of this book stood. The church of today is walking in the same footsteps as the church of pre WW2!Actually, I would suggest that every young Christian read this wonderful work that is both fundamental as well as profound.I am not sure I'd waste my time proposing this book to those who have succeeded in getting much of the church into its current condition, i.e, bowing to the dictactates of most world governments and Social pressures. Insisting on getting back to the written Logos and desiring that Logos Himself be preached will allow the church again to become that Light on the hill!

A revelation and a blessing
This book is having a major effect on my Christian way of life. It’s not just theology - though rich and prayfully uplifting in its exegesis - it is about the sacred calling that each baptised member of the Church is called upon to follow. I find one page of Bonhoeffer’s blessed commentary is sufficient to sustain my spiritual contemplation for a few days. I believe that it is not a book that one reads as an academic/ philosophical exercise. I find that this work urgently knocks on my heart and soul; once I open that door with obedience, my life is never the same. A revelation and a blessing.
