Minecraft: The Island: An Official Minecraft Novel : Brooks, Max: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Good - Really good booked fun Review: My 13-year-old son loves this book. - I brought this book for my 13-year-old son after he asked me if I could get it for him. He's recently got into Minecraft, and I like to encourage him to read, and so I got it for him. When it arrived he eagerly started to read it, and he's almost halfway through it, and told me it was "sick" (which, oddly, in the language of 13-year-old boys means it's great). Intrigued I started to read it yesterday when he was out with his girlfriend, and I have to say it's a great book. I have been playing Minecraft myself with my son and I really have no idea how to play it. This book is written as if though the game is a real life event. The narrator wakes up in this crazy square shaped world where everything is created of blocks. Two reasons I like this book: 1). Easy to read language with no swearing - just what I want my son to read, and 2) if you are new to Minecraft this book is almost like a playing guide but win the form of a story. It's actually a book that keeps you reading "just one more chapter." Recommended for all new Minecraft players, for experienced Minecraft players, and adults and teenage boys alike.

Absolutely outstanding and amazing book
By far one of the best books I have read in a long time, and that is saying a lot. The book has difficult vocabulary so I personally recommend to offer children around 9+, but the book hooks you and makes you want to read more. Max Brooks is a brilliant author and the fact that he has made a book about probably at one point every kids' favourite videogame, really attracts children to read this book. My five star rating is because how adventurous and engaging the book really is. An added bonus is the book contains life lessons I'm definitely sure we could all use right now. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes Minecraft and is a great reader which can understand the vocabulary.

Amazing. First Minecraft novel I've ever read
The storyline was crazy cool! But it made me sad when his house got burnt down . I like cool houses in MC. Shoulda used pure cobblestone or obsidian, since creepers can't destroy obsidian

Adult and child approved
My Minecraft lover husband and 9 year old son both love this book. I would say it has been written more for the young adult to adult readers just because of the way it has been written but the story has been so compelling that it has not put my son off and has helped his reading so much

Wow
This book cane up in my home page for only £1.99 so I thought I should read it. Haven't finished it yet but already it's looking hopeful! I think this is a really good idea to base it off a game that lots of children enjoy but some of the vocab is aimed at older kids. Still, it looks like n enjoyable, entertaining book. Great read for Minecraft fans
Bought this for my 7 year old son who loves Minecraft and we are only on chapter 4 but he is hooked and loves that he can guess what the character is describing. I think it’s a great read for this age group and real intense in a fun way. I am enjoying reading it and getting an insight into Minecraft aswell.
