Nice density no bad smell, but its too delicate, it rips off fast and its not forgiving to handle once is glued in place. It's hard to cut with scissors it gets stuck and with a knife it leaves jagged edges or it rips. Cannot cut in detail edges. This is for hidden places out off sight.

I test the 1/2 inch thick foam and I honestly don't see too many situations where I would want to use any of of the thinner versions of the product. The first thing that sticks out is the extreme light weight properties of the foam. I have used all kinds of sound deadening materials, from the metallic foils to rock wool and other insulations that also have sound retarding properties. This foam is for sure the lightest of all the materials I have used. It is also one of the most costly per square foot, especially for the thicker versions. If you are looking for sound deadening material for an RV or work van and weight is a very important factor, then it is probably worth the premium for this. I could see this also being ideal for certain high end marine applications where cost is not an issue. For sure though, for just regular automotive use I would be looking to mix this with some of the foil products and rock wool to get the best mix of cost and performance. In the instructions they advise you to use cardboard to make templates before cutting and installing the material. I believe the reason is because of the way the adhesive layer works. I was most interested in how this would perform around my electronics in locations where acoustic properties were important due to resonance. I actually think EVA foam would have been almost as good at a fraction of the cost for that exact applications. There aren't too many people doing high power audio in automotive applications these days, so maybe this isn't the best example. The product does install and adhere well, it just requires more planning than alternative materials and comes at a higher cost. CONCLUSION I would still recommend this material, but I would say that planning is key. If you know your use case, you can make the best judgement about the costs and benefits of this versus other alternatives. Best of luck with your install.
