Is the bottom felt or metal?

The base is metal. The underside (that sits on the table), is like a hard rubber. It’s a great little light and VERY BRIGHT at its highest setting. I wouldn’t recommend it for something that you have in a room for the only light source, but for a computer room or guest room, it’s absolutely perfect!
