I ordered two of these ferns, several weeks apart. I split each of them into two clumps, and planted them together in a self-watering planter. I used potting soil mixed with coconut husk to help with drainage. The planter comes with pumice, which is put in the bottom. I pour water into the reservoir below (every couple of weeks), the plants absorb what they want. I think this planter makes it easier to grow Maidenhair ferns, which do not like to dry out. In my experience, once a frond withers, it does not recover. I have included a picture of the first fern when it arrived, so you have an idea of the size. Of the four clumps in the planter now, the two in the middle are from the first fern, I've had those in that planter for about 7 weeks. Their neighbors in the corners come from the new fern. They were added yesterday. As you can see the old ones look just as good as the newly-arrived ones. I had this planter in a window above a heater originally, and lost a few fronds when the heat was turned on. Sometimes we open the window, and they do get some cold drafts for a few minutes. These windows get lots of light, but never direct sun exposure. The plants were packaged very securely, the pot taped to the bottom of the box, and the top of the pot covered with tape. I have received no incentives whatsoever to post this review.

I'm very pleased with this purchase absolutely gorgeous! I was surprised when I opened the box by how full and lush it was! It was in excellent shape and for a second I thought I'd accidentally purchased a fake plant but nope it's alive. The soil was clean and moist and in excellent shape! I would definitely purchase more from this shop!
