We bought these for my grandson, and he abolutely had to open up both sets before he played with anything else. They come in compact boxes, but the size of each piece, and the high quality with which they're manufactured, is a real bonus. I'd suppose these toys would last for years, even with rough play or handling. They're clearly buit to last and the magnets are seriously strong, too. He was able to build a massive Army base from one kit and the pieces will stack about as high as you'd like. VERY happy with them, as was the kiddo!
