Excess Flow Water Shutoff Valve

Requires excessive adaptation to standard appliance plumbing, product is physically very large
It may have worked spectacularly, I don't know - I never installed it because it does not fit in-line with any standard interior household water plumbing. To be clear, you cannot simply remove your toilet or ice maker supply hose and place this device in-line with it directly out of the box, or even with standard adapters. To be fair, the description never said it would work that way but I think that's a reasonable expectation. It also did not make it clear that the device expects to be hooked up to a garden hose, literally. At least sell a kit of adapters to connect it to appliances one would typically buy this thing for - toilets, dishwashers, ice makers (it might fit a washing machine out of the box, but I think the flow limits might be too low).Setting the flow shut off volume was also not clear. A plastic "tool" is included to set the flow volume shut off (i.e., shuts off after X gallons flow through) but the instructions are long, tedious and very small type and it is not intuitively obvious how to do it. It was not clear to me after a few minutes of trying, and I hold multiple engineering degrees. I expect better, even if it's link to a YouTube video. When you open the box there are several (four IIRC) components. It is not clear whether all the components must be used in every application, or how they go together. I got the impression that maybe all of them aren't needed every time, but again, not clear. It was like they picked several things off the shelf that maybe weren't made to go together and just boxed them up. One of the parts is in its own box with instructions in the box. Another part, which did seem to be required to go with the one in the box, no box, no instructions. Then some plumbing components, and some loose instructions/paperwork in the shipping box. Frankly it was a hot mess.It is also physically very large. I suppose a dishwasher or ice make installation might not be so bad because it's behind an appliance. For a toilet, I'm not quite sure where you would mount this thing. Fully assembled it's probably 6-8 inches long. Most of these things become clear in retrospect when you look at the photos carefully, but not at first glance. The description and the instructions could be so much better. Amazon made return process easy so good for that.

Peace of mind automatic water shut off
We have a marginal well with hard water. Several times the toliet has remained running after being flushed and it has drained our water tank. With this valve the water is automatically shut off once the preset amout of water goes through the valve. We have tested it several times and it shuts the flow of water. The company was very helpful with answering our questions. My husband easily installed it on the wall next to the toilet. Make sure it isinstalled vertical as it does not work if not level. Not sure how it will hold up long term. Our plan is to test it every 6 months or so to make sure it is still working. Also to attach it to a toilet we needed to go to a plumbing supply store to get adapters for it to hook to the toilet line fittings.

Works just as Advertised
Using it just as it came from the box to protect a misting system to cool horses. Tested it and it shut off at about 3 1/2 gallons of open flow. Normal mister flow is too low to measure so it does not cut off during everyday use. Could not do better if it were designed just for this application!

Red Reset plunger keeps hanging
The unit does shut off the water flow. However, the red plunger keeps getting stuck when I try to reset it. I have to disassemble the unit to reset it. I am taking it off the line now because I'm tired of having to do this. I will have to look for another solution.

saved our work kitchen from flooding
We had our inline water filter to our coffee maker crack over the weekend. Luckily this valve was installed or else we would have flooded our entire kitchen. This valve saved a lot money and hassle by avoiding the flood damage. Our wasn't installed with the inline piece to reset it, so we had to disconnect the unit to reset it.
