APF Advanced Protection Formula (4oz)

My horses love this in a handful of dry feed. Whew because they are picky.They’ve only had it for a week but so far, so good.

I used this on my horse that has sinus infection after using antibiotics. It kept the infection under control better than the antibiotics until I could get to the long distance vet. I like having it on hand for times like this.

I purchase this directly from the manufacturer but am going to review it here hoping it may help others. My horse was put on Prascend following a Cushing's diagnosis and experienced horrible side effects from the medication. While her low grade laminitis stopped completely and her topline lifted (yay!)- she had an ANGRY, spooky attitude and would hardly eat anything. She lost a lot of weight and getting her supplements into her was nearly impossible because she seemed to think everything tasted disgusting (even grain). This battle went on for about 3-4 months and I was at the brink of quitting Prascend because nothing was working to alleviate the side effects of it. This of course would have resulted in tragedy. APF was mentioned in an online group, so I decided to give it a try. Long story short, my horse loved the taste and she visibly improved within the first 3 days of administering APF. Here we are a couple months later and I have my old horse back. My friend is getting all the benefits of Prascend with none of the side effects anymore. I started with the highest suggested dose and did that for 10 days, then dropped down to the maintenance dose and have been doing that ever since. If I know the day is going to be "stressful" (ie farrier, ride, trailer, vet) I give her the high dose for a couple days. If your horse is struggling with the Pergolide veil, GIVE THIS A TRY! I am convinced it saved my horse's life. I started giving it to my two minis at the maintenance dose as well and they certainly seem more chipper and respond to stress with more ease than before.
