Do they stand up to heat?

I use Neos on oil filters without a problem. Any fine ferrous material in the oil stops there. I use 1" dia x 1/2 thick 45lb pull Neos. (Strong enough to put on a closed steel tool box and pull tools to the top from the top tray inside the tool box.) No noticeable degradation in strength over 30,000 miles (car) 25,000 miles (water cooled motorcycle). As for actual temp, I would suspect much higher temp than what I run them at (180F or so), they would begin to lose their magic.

What is the actual size?...Anybody counter sink these with forstner bit?...If so, what size bit?..Thanks!

I used a 1.25" forstner bit and it was a fraction too small. Had to carve them out a bit too get the magnets to fit. These claim they're 1.26" in diameter and i believe that's accurate.

Will they work with a 1inch piece of wood between them

magnetic force dies off at the rate of about 1/r with r raised to the 4th power so the greater the 'r', the distance to the item attracted, then the attraction is reduced by a huge amount... Hold two magnets an inch apart and feel how week the force is between them, either attractive or repulsive, then try bringing them within an 8th of an inch of each other and see how the force increases!

Is there a trick for separating them? I struggle to pull them apart.

I found sliding them off one at a time works best. Once you slide one off the top a couple of centimeters, you can separate them by pushing a thin piece of plastic between them - like a guitar pick or a tiddlywink.

Strong Magnets

Worked great. I used a set to keep my clothes dryer door open. The adhesive didn’t work very well because the magnets are so strong so I resolved the problem using super glue.

Very strong and works well

One of my desk drawers broke and wouldn't stay closed so I'm using these magnets to keep it closed. The strength is perfect due to the gap between the drawer and the top of the desk.

Strong magnet

These magnets are very strong. I use them as part of my bag closures. These types of magnets can break easily. This is not a flaw, just the nature of these types of magnets. The spacers between the magnets are a life saver in getting these apart. There are several sizes and thicknesses to choose from for your need.For this strength of magnet, this is a great value.

10 ordered, 7 working, 1 chipped, 2 dull

These are great strong magnets. I ordered a pack of 10. 10 came, and 8 are very strong and work as intended. 1 of the 8 came slightly chipped but still strong and usable. 2 magnets are significantly weaker than the others. They aren't completely useless, however, as I've found them to be a great fidget toy. 4/5 stars since technically only 8/10 work well.

These magnets are powerful!

These magnets are exactly what I needed! Made a poster board for my son’s locker, and it held up nicely.

Powerful, but fragile!

These magnets are so powerful that when I let two of them get too close together, they snapped together and made a magnet "Oreo" that I couldn't separate with my bare hands. I tried to force a knife blade between them, but their combined magnetism forced the blade to one edge or the other, wouldn't let me force it between them! Finally got them apart, but when one of the slipped from my hand, it shattered when it hit the floor. When dropped, they act more like ceramic than metal, so don't get clumsy!

Strong but break easily

Strong but break easily. Got two of them too close to each other working on a project and one of them shattered when it snapped to the other.
