This potting soil has no fertilizer which is what I wanted. You have to layer the soil and then sprinkle with watering can and then mix the soil with your hands to moisten it. I did this several times so that it was moist when I transplanted an Amaryllis bulb.

This soil can be used for any planting need. No odor, mold or bugs. It is a large bag but easy to carry for my husband. Good price.

This was the Espoma potting soiling I've ordered in the past because it's hard to find in our local stores. No problems with fungus gnats. I did leave the opened bag outside under cover (i.e. did not store in garage sealed or unsealed) and have seen no evidence of the critters mentioned in other reviews. I have held off using it for indoor pots until I was sure nothing invasive would emerge. Seems just fine.

My wife says this potting soil is best.

NEVER AGAIN!!!! After repotting a few plants with this soil, I had a fungus gnat outbreak. I treated in the usual way, with yellow sticky traps. No dice. I upped the ante with BTI and watered per instructions. The gnats kept coming. THEN, I opened the bin where I’d store the Espoma soil…and…a giant cloud of of gnats buzzed into the air. The gnats were inside the bag!! The soil itself had been incubating a monstrous gnat infestation. Espoma DID refund me, reluctantly. The refund was for the soil and NOT for the loss of my plants. UPDATE: I had to throw out three lovely plants that became infested with fungus gnats AFTER I repotted them with this soil. UGH!!! I treated my plants three times for gnats and the plants that I’d used this soil for didn’t recover. I’m still treating the rest with BTI hoping to ward off more gnats. A sad expensive waste. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN.
