Mr. 3000 [VHS]

"Mr 3000" is a story of a baseball player who gets 3000 hits and promptly retires. Then-oops!- the MLB discovers that he only has 2997 hits. He unretires. Pros: Talented cast; looks good; Bernie Mac’s charm; Cons: I can’t think of any characters that were developed enough to allow us to develop a lot of sympathy for them. It might have worked as a comedy, or a serious drama, or a romantic story, but it doesn’t work as a mishmash of all three. It too often feels like a commercial for ESPN. Like Tom Berenger in “Major League”, Stan Ross could use some work on his bunting. Bernie Mac has been described as having a talent for cussing. That talent is on display to some degree. The film is rated PG-13 with a lot of swearing, some vulgarity and sexuality.

Finally got some time to watch a movie. When I took of the wrapper and opened the case It WAS EMPTY! WHAT A SCAM!

It was a great movie. Mr. 3000 is a movie by Bernie Mac I had never seen. It is a movie I will cherish with memories of Bernie.

It was good Summertime entertainment. I’m a baseball nut so it was good there!

Laugh out loud fun

Mr. 3000 is one of--if not--my all-time fav movies. I have seen almost all of Bernie's movies and have most of them in my DVD collection. But, Mr. 3000 is just simply the best!!! Honestly, I can watch the movie over and over and over again...In addition to Bernie being the world's greatest comedian, he is also an amazing actor. My favorite part in the entire movie is when Mo (Angela Bassett, who is also one of my fav actresses) visits Stan at his home...Marvin Gaye's "Lets Get It On" starts playing and Mo and Stan start dancing. The man is so talented!!! I'm not sure if many people know but Bernie could dance AND sing. And, what I like most about him--in the movie and off screen--is that he is "real"...and ol' school. "They" don't make them like Bernie anymore. He was one of the "coolest" cats I've ever seen (celebrity or otherwise)!!! In the movie, I like the fact that Mr. 3000 changed his selfish ways and learned from the mistakes that he made when he was younger. Obviously, I loved the way that the movie ended...Angela and Bernie were so beautiful together!!! It has been seven months since Bernie passed away. I still miss the MAC-MAN oh so much!!!

For Bernic Mac fans. Great to see the big guy on film again. Buy it.
