Why is the price so much higher than Beautylish or The Ordinary's own site?

I am buying directly from The Ordinary. it isn't a big deal to wait a few more days vs. paying twice as much. And free shipping on orders over $25. Paying double is ridiculous! I get more product at cheaper price, free shipping just by being patient. I used to find Amazon was cheaper and faster shipping than buying directly at store, I am finding that it is opposite with Amazon now. Now I find that I would be paying a lot more for product to have in 2 days instead of 7 days. It isn't life or death things that I am buying. 5 extra days isn't really going to shift my world, but paying double for a product feels like extortion.

Why is the price so much higher than Sephora or The Ordinary's own site? It is $8.90 at both places and I payed $14.95 at Amazon! TWICE AS MUCH???

If it's out of stock at your local store why is it ok to pay more for the same product & size ? Ridiculous. Amazon prices are ridiculous even Cerave & Cosrx products are more expensive here , it's the last place I'll look for skin care from now on. Outrageous!!

Does this work any better with the Niacinamide from the ordinary or does it lighten spots enough on its own?

I am not an expert in dermatology. I will try to answer this to the best of my understanding. Niacinamide is just a vitamin that is present many foods. It probably has minimal effect, if any, on skin coloration. In fact high doses of niacinamide is used to increase hdl levels. Yet people who take very high does of this vitamin have not reported any change in the skin complexion. Alpha arbutin on the other hand is probably a precursor to hydroquinone or it works similar to hydroquinone. This is a bleaching agent and it acts to decrease pigments in the skin. Therefore Alpha arbutin is also effective in reducing skin pigmentation. In my opinion the two are entirely different compounds having very different pharmacological effects. I do not know why people use niacinamide for reducing pigmentation. That does not make any sense to me. As far as hydroquinone is concerned, it does bleach the skin, but the question remains whether it is long lasting or short lived. I do not have answer to that. I think Alpha arbutin works the same way. But be careful; your skin may be sensitive to it and this compound may cause allergic reactions like rashes and/or itching.
