I've been doing embroidery and needlepoint for a while off and on (definitely not an expert or anything close). The one with printing on it removed the part I most hated about cross stitch - the counting from the middle. I particularly hated it because I'd be off by one somewhere after doing a ton of work and it would look goofy. This completely eliminates that problem and lets me concentrate on actually doing the cross stitch. The colors took a while and several rinses to wash out, but they washed out completely except for on the very bottom the very dark color I can still barely see. This doesn't bother me since it will never be seen when framed. It turned out really cute as well, and I plan to gift it to my niece for her room (more like gift it to my sister since my niece is a baby, but same thing in the grand scheme of things). Anyway, highly recommend the cross stitch with the marks on the fabric.

I turned in a review already but since I read some of the reviews in here, I thought I'd address a few issues. When doing cross stitch in general, you should always use a loop. It holds your fabric taunt so you can make even stitches of the same pressure. The fabric is stiff but when you put it in water to remove grid lines, it loosens up somewhat. You should always mount a cross stitch, or embroidery picture on self stick board (sticky board) that is also sold on amazon to give it structure before you frame it. If you can't get the 3 strands thru the needle supplied with the kit, get one that has a bigger opening so you can. A beginner should be able to do these pictures, they are stamped cross stitch. Try counted cross stitch if you think this one is hard. Soaking them when you are done is the KEY. If you run out of thread, the company should send you more, however all colors are cross matched to DMC. Amazon has a conversion chart. they are very inexpensive... Happy sewing!

I've always done counted cross stitch, but I ordered this for an 8 hour drive so I could navigate travel directions and do a little needlework. This kit is perfect. It's not too big and the printed pattern makes following the diagram a breeze. The only drawback is that the fabric is very stiff and was hard to get into the hoop. But once I did I was good to go. It's a great kit for the price, I would definitely recommend!

I would consider myself an experienced cross stitch addict over the last 40+ years. This little picture was perfect for my daughter whose dog is a princess! This project was a nightmare! The instructions were confusing and I ran out of two colors. Luckily, I had leftovers from other projects since I'm frugal with my floss and always have leftovers! If I was a beginner at cross stitch and tried this one first, I would probably find another hobby.

It's very cute and easy. I'm dealing with back pain rn and needed something mindless to work on. This fit the bill. BUT The provided needles are really short. I used one I had on hand, suggest you do the same. The ink washed out ... But it took a lot longer than the 3hrs in the instructions.

Loved the pattern and quality of the product but there was not enough thread at all to do a full stitch. Luckily I had thread leave over from a previous one so could top up but would like to see more thread provided especially as a full stitch is recommended by the product.
