What an amazing woman
Short and sweet here. An amazing book written by an amazing woman. She was the Itchy Boots before Noraly and incredibly tough. This really isn't a feel good book about how wonderful and amazing the world is, but about a woman that wouldn't give up when facing some really big problems and more than a few nasty people. I, and probably all my friends, could never hold a candle to her as she's an example of what a person can do if they never give up. What a badass woman. I can only hope to be 1/2 as tough as Elspeth Beard. Worth reading.

Amazing person
Elspeth brave and exceptional girl that travelled the world with motorcycle in her book successfully depicted atmosphere of the countries visited. It takes courage to share personal feelings and expose intimate experiences. Great book that i highly recommend.

wishful adventure rider
I had a dream, late in life, to have an adventure similar to this. However, I realized that I was too committed to a growing family to begin such an adventure. So, I began riding a touring bike for short journeys while camping along the way. I also began riding off road with a dual sport bike for a different kind of thrill.

The most brilliant travel book
a unbelievable adventure by a woman alone on a motorcycle around the world. The intensity at times and trial that Elsbeth went through was unimaginable. I sent copies to at least 6 other people and they all loved this adventure too

An Exceptional Lady
A great read, real adventure. The fact her friends and family didn't appreciate the magnitude of her accomplishments upon her return is mind boggling! Much enjoyed reading.

Spellbinding
I have known of Elspeths journey, and this book for a while, but only now got around to reading it.Though it is now almost 40 years since her epic journey, the book reads as though it could have been written yesterday.Surely testament to Elspeths skill as a writer, but also to her character. This book is a refreshing change of perspective in a genre dominated by men, and lacks the phony bravado or machismo often found in the male versions of similar adventures. Her writing is honest, and direct, as well as empathetic and relatable. She is formidable and vulnerable, and incredibly likable!. Elspeth weaves her personal internal journey together with the 35000 mile external journey brilliantly. The narrative is captivating, and a proper page turner. One of those perfect books where you cannot wait to get to the end, but at the same time dread the thought of the book and the adventure being over.
