A Treasure
Thank you to the person that took the time to put this book together. It is a treasure. I grew up loving the little house books and this is a neat compilation of her early writing. I gave to my grandpa who grew up in the ozark in the 30s-50s and he just loved it. He told me that is was a great picture of his early life which was special to me.

Book Never Received, Poor Customer Service
I really wanted this book, but I don't have it. The Amazon software played games with my order and decided to send two copies instead of the one I ordered. I notified Amazon immediately to stop the order but was told it was being sent and I could 1) pay the shipping to return the second copy, 2) or I could try to sell it myself on Amazon. What kind of respect does that show for a good customer? What an insult! I said I would reject the package at the post office, so Amazon sent it by UPS - I haven't had UPS deliver books from Amazon before, but the trick didn't work, I returned the package unopened at my local UPS office. Laura Ingalls Wilder is my favorite author, I'm very pleased to find her name in my family tree, but I don't have this book. I don't plan on having any Amazon books anymore. When a company is too large to care about a simple customer they have grown too large for my custom.

A tapestry of rural life, farm society and home-spun storytelling.
I'm loving it. I'm about half way through it. I read 5 or six books intermittently, so haven't finished it yet, but so far I have found this to be an educational, warm and inviting read. There is something about reading how things were and comparing how they are now that I find enlightening. Some things never change, but some of the best things actually have gone out of style I think. A tapestry of rural life, farm society and home-spun storytelling. A nice insight into the mind of one of my favorite storytellers. I'm a sucker for nostalgia and self-sufficient lifestyles.

Nice Collectable Item
Had this book years ago & had sold it along with other books when we moved out of state. Regretted that decision years later, so I was THRILLED when I found it again here on Amazon! YEAH, me!!!

Wonderful Book
I would highly recomend this book. It is an interesting glimpse at the real Laura Ingalls Wilder. It is wonderful to hear her wisdom, stories and perspective. I also enjoy reading about the way life has and has not changed since the farm journal articles were written. This book is also easy to read in small increments of time.

for Laura fans
This book is an interesting and enjoyable read for Laura fans. She writes so well, and her essays are full of insight and humor. She is intelligent in both heart and mind, and this book is never a dull read. I do wish it had photographs, even the front cover is not a picutre of her or of Rocky Ridge farm. But it's a good book for Laura's fans>

More interesting stories and anecdotes from Laura's life as a farm wife..her chickens and "the man of the place".!.
Contains very interesting stories and anecdotes from Laura's life. Several never read before in either her biographies or her letters. A little repetitious but hang in there..!. The morals get a wee bit preachy but worth the read.
