Becoming Myself: Embracing God's Dream of You

I absolutely love the transparency, humor,& her style of ministry. This is so worth investing in. You won't regret picking this one up!

I am currently reading this book and about two-thirds of the way through it. I am always reluctant to read books written for Christian women because I think the church has a long way to go in how women are viewed and I don’t like reading books that try to prescribe to me the kind of godly woman I am supposed to be. I think the Word says much more about women and their value than those in the church have grasped. However, what I love about Stasi is that she doesn’t fall into the same rut others speak from in her writing. She steers clear of this stereotype of godly women in her book, and because of her humility and realness, she does a great job of letting the reader decide for themselves, before God, how to apply what she is writing.This is the second book of Stasi’s I have read, and what is most refreshing about her is that she doesn’t pretend to have it all together. She is honest, raw, transparent, intimate and relentless in her pursuit of God and finding her true identity, allowing us to walk with her in doing the same. I highly recommend her books, not because they are the best writing, although she is solid; but I recommend them because she is just like all of us, and when reading her books, it feels like I am having coffee with a close friend. A long time fan of her husband’s writings, I have also become a fan of hers. Great read for those who are trying to better understand who they are as God designed.

It appears to me that one of the most over-used phrases tossed around by Christians is "life changing". "That sermon was life changing - what do you want to eat for lunch?" "That concert was life changing...are we ever gonna get out of this parking lot?" "Come to our life changing conference!" SO, please know, I'm choosing my words carefully as I review "Becoming Myself - Embracing God's Dream of You". Stasi Eldredge has taken God at his word when He offers life abundantly. She has an incredible grasp of the promises of Isaiah 61 and Galatians 5:1. "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." And, in this book she shares the wisdom and freedom grasping those truths has brought her. The power and beauty of this book is Stasi Eldredge teaches truth and wisdom in a down to earth, vulnerable, honest, engaging voice. SO, back to the phrase "life changing": if you read and reread and give each chapter the meditation it is due, the Holy Spirit is going to change your life through this book. Actually, He might just change you after one read through! As Stasi teaches -- sometimes His miracles are instantaneous and sometimes "God is all about this process of becoming". To sum it up, "Becoming Myself - Embracing God's Dream of You" is life changing. Yep, I said it.

There are so many golden nuggets of wisdom in this book that I can’t name them all in a short post. This book spoke to my feminine heart and touched on some areas where I needed healing and attention. I bought the audio because I’d love to hear it read. It is definitely a book that I have highlighted many sections and we’ll go back many times to let it speak to my heart again

I could not say enough good things about this book and how God used it to open my eyes to how I see myself. Stasi Eldredge has a gift of making you feel like the two of you are sitting down together for coffee as she tells her story. I was immediately drawn in to the opening story of her experience at the spa because the same thing happened to me!! For me, it was her candidness that opened my heart to the possibility of being able to change my way of thinking. I've known for a long time that I am harsh in the way I think of myself and have even read several books to try to overcome that. This has been my favorite book so far. Even if you don't believe you struggle with issues like self-image, please consider reading this book to help others that you may come in contact with. Thank you, Stasi Eldredge for being so transparent and your willingness to share your story. God used you to be an encouragement to me!

I have long loved all of Stasi Eldredge's books and this one is no different.Some of her books were pivotal in my own healing of identity and grasping the value of my worth. I ordered Becoming Myself to use as a tool in walking alongside a young woman with similar struggles as the ones I once walked through. It has been at the center of a much healing for this sweet girl and has reminded me of areas I needed to address again in my own life.Stasi is always authentic about her own struggles and life story. She helps us identify with her but always points us to the love and hope we have in Jesus.I highly recommend this book for any woman struggling with issues of worth. It's a difficult world we live in - without knowing who we are in Christ, we can easily sway to and fro with the unsteadiness of our world.

I am so grateful to Stasi Eldredge for having the courage and the heart to write a book like this. More than that, I'm grateful to God for creating such an amazing soul who is such an authentic teacher. This book was like a cool glass of water after living a life striving to please others while placing my true self in hiding. My experience growing up in the church left me with an "others centered" mentality, causing me to ignore who I was and am created to be. Reading Stasi's book has been a lovely step toward breaking out of that mold.

Fun, down to earth and refreshing!

'Becoming Myself' helped me to understand how God sees me. I enjoyed the latter pages of the book better than the first few chapters, so I recommend persevering until the end. Loved the Kindle version so that I could make notes freely as I read.

Love her writing style and deep content.Its not superficial just trust and all is well. She goes deeper. Theologically sound and new insights and cultural context.Not a quick read and move on. One that can truly change your walk with God.

I am using this product for my small group at church. We read a chapter at a time each week then discuss it .

It has taken me a little longer to read as there is so much good information and self work to do
