Also known as kefier or arab scarf, Shema is a simple yet efficient way to protect your face and neck from sun, wind and sand. It also serves as an alternative to winter headwear, especially in snow and windy areas. Shema wear styles vary but wrap the scarf around your head and face for optimal protection from the elements. How to wear a seamer: ⇒ [Step 1] Fold the shemag into a triangle. Wrap the folded edge around your back and top of your head, making sure about two thirds of the material is on the left. The right edge must be long enough to reach the chest. ⇒ [Step 2] Place your shemagh about 3" or 4" from the folded edge with your left hand and hang the edge forward. ⇒ [Step 3] Release the right end. Use your left hand to hold the shemagh end next to the left cheek and close to the left cheekbone. Then use your right hand to hang the left edge of the shemagh on your face and pull it over your nose. ⇒ [Step 4] Continue winding the shema around your face and head until you get back from the left shoulder. Hold the right tail and keep the shemagh from pulling out of your head when winding up. Move your hand toward the edge as you roll it up. ⇒ [Step 5] Pull your shema as tight as you need to feel comfortable. At the end of the process, take both ends and tie near the right temple. Square knots hold the shema in place.
