Advertised for motorcycles, but excellent for cars
I've been using this for about 9 months now (update: 3 years now and still running good. Update 2: 4 and a half years later, and it died (see bottom)). I picked this up to replace a Rexing V1P cam which was absolutely terrible (random restarts, rear cam dying, frequently stops recording until card is reformatted, etc). I chose this dashcam as one of my biggest obstacles is that I have a convertible, and nearly all of the dash cams out there have you placing the rear camera in the rear window. Obviously with a convertible, that doesn't work, as there is no rear window when the top is down. So having the rear cam mountable outside the car is a huge advantage. Second big feature that sets this unit apart from nearly all others it that the display is separate from the front camera, and does not mount to the windshield. I prefer not to have to see things mounted to my windshield, so I hide them (the camera, toll pass, etc) behind my rear view mirror. This makes them nice and hidden, but on the dash cams that integrate the display and camera into one unit, it becomes a problem when you want to interact with it, as now it's a pain in the neck to get around the rear mirror. So for me, I've got the camera hidden behind my mirror, but the display I keep tucked between my seat and the center divider. This way it's not attached to anything, so it's easily accessible, but out of the way when I don't want it. The display is also nice and compact. About the size of a credit card, and maybe 3/4 inch thick. Video quality is very good. I've actually had this help prove fault in an accident (hit and run), and it clearly captured the license plate of the other vehicle. No issues with motion blur, or clarity. The build quality of the unit is also very nice. The display casing is metal, and very sturdy. The cables are also good quality and well insulated, which for me is good since I had to use 2 extension cables (bought separately) for the rear camera, and 1 extension cable for the front camera. Even with all that extra cable length, I don't see any loss in picture quality. And as mentioned, the rear camera is mounted outside, where it's exposed to the elements (Florida heat & rain), and after 9 months is still working just fine. My old Rexing rear camera died after about 3 months. The only complaints I have are about how it's powered, and there are 2: The first is that I initially tried to use this powered off the provided USB plug. This was intended to be temporary until I got around to disassembling the car and wiring it up to 12v. However this experience had me returning the unit and exchanging it for a new one as I thought it was broken (it wasn't). What was happening was that the display would often flicker, and it would randomly stop recording. The unit is rated at consuming 2.0 amps off USB (if I recall correctly), and I tried multiple different adapters rated well above that, and the problem continued, so I did not think it was a power issue. Hence I returned and exchanged for a new unit. However the new one did the same thing. I decided to give it a shot and see if it would work any better off 12v power, and indeed it did. The screen flickers & recording issues went away. So bottom line, powering off 5v (USB) does not work. The second complaint is its power-on mechanism. When wired into 12v, it powers on by detecting a voltage drop, and then stays on by detecting engine vibration. Then shuts off after 2 minutes of no vibration. This works well enough, except when I want to use it. If the engine is off, or I'm holding it (and engine is on), I have 2 minutes to interact with it. When in my hands, my hands don't vibrate, so it thinks the car is off and wants to shut down. Thankfully where I keep it (wedged against the center divider), is hard plastic, so it conducts the engine vibration well, and the unit does its job of staying on while I'm driving. But I would much rather see an alternate solution where the unit uses the 12v ignition wire (such as for the stereo) as the power-on/off mechanism. But even with both these complaints, I still rate it at 5 stars as the first issue was overcome, the latter is just an annoyance, the device does what it's supposed to do, and is WAY above the competition. Update (4 and half years after purchase/install): So the unit finally died. It initially started resetting every few minutes. As while driving I was constantly hearing the little "chirp" that indicates it's turning on. Then after a month or so of that it stopped turning on at all. Completely dead. Really bad timing too as it died about 1 week before I got into a wreck where the other party tried to get out of accepting liability (fortunately even without the dashcam, I was able to prove it was their fault). Anyway it appears that the power module is the problem, not the camera itself. However apparently I've got an old model and the connectors have changed so I can't get a replacement module. So time for a new dashcam.

VSYS MF2 installed on KTM 1190R
I installed this on my KTM 1190R and have been using it for about a week as of today. The system has produced reliable clear 1080hd video, begins recording when I start the bike , turns off after approx 3 min after engine shut down. PROS: Easy to install hardest part was stashing the cables away, I stashed the dvr unit under the seat behind the battery and in between the evapo canister and fuse box mounting it to side with Velcro , then routed the front camera lead and wired controller lead under the fairing plastics and up and over tank, not necessary to remove tank for this type of install and wires are completely hidden, but next time I remove tank I will run the wires under tank and cable tie to chassis - total time to install was about two hours. Setup configuration is very simple and easy not a lot of options thankfully - just a few settings - very simple abd easy and that is a plus for me. Using the smart cable power management option very easy Wired Controller - very easy to use, locks video files with any button press - indicates system status by led lights at a glance - nice Only one micro sd card is required - system places the synchned front and rear camera files into separate folders on same card I like that the sd card and dvr unit is under the seat - protected in the event of a crash - an external mounted unit would probably be broken off during crash Unit seems to be working as advertised - I like it WiFi phone app easy to setup and works flawlessly I have used the unit in heavy rain and all exposed components seem waterproof - my under seat installation kept dvr dry, YMMV CONS: There is interference from bikes electronics when recording sound - I set sound record to off - not a big deal for me There is interference to video signal when I beep my ktm horn there is also interference to video signal from sudden rapid throttle roll ons above 70mph - briefly affects quality of video My opinion of the waterproof case is it seems a little cheaply made - but I’m not using it I did not get the GPS tracker - seems kind of clunky anyway you can only view the gps info in google maps using additional software Plan on spending a little bit of time to isolate motorcycle and road vibration from the camera mounts All in all seems to get the job done and produces sharp clear video. Time will tell if unit can be dependable and last and stand up to the abuse I plan on throwing at it lol Wanted to add all of the components except for the waterproof case seem to be very high quality - the dvr unit is a sturdy metal housing not plastic with ventilation ports , the waterproof case however does come with high quality easy handlebar mounts if you choose to go that way- well built well thought out unit - easy operation - I will bump this up another star if it’s still working a year from now!!

I received a Lemon
Product seems good, I liked the reviews of others. Bench tested mine before installation and has issues. At first I thought it had a bad camera, but then realized it was the DVR. Powered using a using a 2.1A USB connection so there should be plenty of power available. The rear camera input stayed solid blue on the screen, with and without the extension cable. The camera view on the screen continually cycled between the split, PIP, and single camera views like the selector button was stuck, but I could feel the click when I pressed it. The unit also never broadcaster the wifi network to connect to the app. I was able to enter the settings menu (looking for some kind of hard reset), and select a sub-menu, but as soon as I made a selection in the sub-menu I was kicked out of the menu and back to the cycling camera display screen. When recording to a Class 10 SD card, the unit cycled between Record and Stand-By according to the screen. Bad unit. Fine, no problem. It happens. Emailed Tech support on a Sunday, they replied within about 8 hours asking for a video of the problem, my Amazon order number, and some other questions. I replied with the video, order number, and answered their questions early Monday. No response. Emailed again Tuesday, No response. It is now Thursday, and I have received no further responses. 3 working days of no communication does not make me comfortable and I am returning the unit based on the lack of tech support response while I am still within Amazon's return period.

Front camera stopped working properly 3 months into purchase... Contacted support and a replacement was issued. Great seller, good item... I have 2 of these type on my 2 motorcycles and will not go out again without one.

Package came in a timely manner, well packaged. System was easy to install (1983 KZ-440 LTD), the main controller for now is under the seat. The main controller could use some more mounting options as the built in mount is useless in my application. The instructions could use a bit more refining as they are not overly clear. But the product is working well, so far and I am happy with the video being rendered. Would recommend to anyone wanting protection for their trip on video.

Just got it today and I'm actually shocked at how easy it was to assemble and get it working and also doing my homework on it I didn't realize that t here was another way of getting power to it and that's by USB.Ive seen the hot wire to the battery and I've seen I can plug in from the ciggeret lighter but never seen the USB hookup i pluged it straight into a power bank for power that was cool. Not going to leave it like that tho because I want it to turn on with the bike and start recording so I'm going to go straight to the battery.I do recommend it for now but just got it got to wait a few months to see how it holds up.

I truly hated to give this a poor review. It is a super good looking unit. It has all the signs of a quality product but in my case it didn't work. I tried it on my motorcycle and did all the connections as directed and, nothing. In all I have to say that Q.C. is sadly lacking. If only they'd caught this before it left the factory :(

Installing equipment was ok. Easy to get cam wire to front of bike. I put everything in my trunk. I put a usb in the trunk which is more convenient, I don’t need the screen attached to handle bars. I bought the cam for accident purposes. Wifi & Iphone app took some guessing but got it to work. Phone app is only good if you stand beside your bike, easy to see your events thru the phone. GPS I don’t bother with….. over all satisfied with the viewing quality
