Worth it but..
Big fan of worick and Nicolas! My only fault is Alex seems to be a big part in this, which I know ofcourse will happen but it seems to be taking away from Nicolas and worrick, notherless an amazing book I just wish it was more around Nicolas!

Amazing series to sit down n' read
I've been wanting to get into the series for awhile now. I'm a person not too interested in anime, but after giving the show a try then picking up the books- I wasn't disappointed. I do like the crime/gangster/mafia genre so I'm greatly enjoying these books.

some plot to hang on to
Vol 2 finally throws the reader some plot to hang on to--one of the Families is after another, and has to take out a third to get there. The motivations are still unknown, but that's to keep the readers going.

A brilliant new series
When I first heard about Gangsta I was immediately unsure about it. I often hear about new manga series on forums, but they rarely live up to the hype. I decided to buy this comic to give it a chance, but expecting at the same time yet another violent yakuza-type drama series. What was received, instead, was something very much in the style of Frank Miller’s work; featuring two independent characters who do odd jobs for various individuals, local citizens, crime bosses, the police, etc. Whilst this story has definitely been seen before, it manages to be original and entertaining at the same time. The story focuses on Nicolas and Worrick, a deaf swordsman and gigolo respectively, in an alternate universe city. They first are hired to do a job by the local police to eliminate a gangster of an area who is getting in the way of business for other crime bosses. A character, Alex, then starts working for them as their secretary; a prostitute they saved in this first job instead of killing her. The story then begins following these three characters as they take jobs around the city, and starts to display the fact that Nicolas is not exactly a normal human, and Worrick hides his past. The characters and the plot are both incredibly entertaining. I didn’t expect at all to find either of them interesting to that degree when starting to read the comic. Both catch your attention and don’t let it go, it is certainly one of the most entertaining mangas of this genre that I have read. The underlying and blatant grittiness of the universe works very well with the plot and characters too, and fits perfectly. The side-characters (at least in the volumes so far published) are interesting and deep. I also love how the art style is in the comic. It is clean and easy to follow, and influences are quite evident. It fits perfectly with the story too, and in this respect I have no complaints about it.Overall, Gangsta is definitely a brilliant start for a new series, and I definitely recommend purchasing the comic and giving it a try. It is one of those rare instances where a series seems to live up to the hype and praise people give it, and it definitely makes it a worthy read. It deserves 4 out of 5 stars, and I must say that I can’t wait to see where the author takes the story.
