Intelli IMT-203 Violin Tuner with Thermo/Hygro Meter

I really liked the idea of having a thermo/hygro meter and a tuner with me that is specifically made for the violin.The item arrived roundabout a week ago, and I've already stopped using it.First of all, the "violin" mode for some reason does not really work for me. Basically, you can switch between chromatic and "violin" mode, which gives you only G,D,A,E as options to tune to. For some reason, in the violin mode, for me, it often does not recognize the note I am trying to tune to, despite being really close to the correct pitch, and then ends up doing nothing.The chromatic mode is a little better, but the system is simply too slow: It takes a few seconds after you make a sound for the tuner make up his mind and display something. There also is no adjustment on the fly, which means: When I play a string, and it says that I'm too low, and I then turn the peg and tune it up before it reset its display after a few seconds, it will not adjust it's display to the new pitch of my string, but I have to wait a few seconds till it's reset. I also have to be very close to the device in order to get a response.While this might seem like something rather minor, this really bothers me, as I basically want to play one long stroke, and within that stroke, I want to find the right pitch for the string. But this tuner here requires me to play, tune, wait till it's reset, play, tune, wait till it's reset, and so on.The thermo and hygrometer could be functioning well, I actually don't know. The value differs drastically from the one of my violin case, but, well, I think that we all yet have to come across a violin case hygrometer that is exact... ;)Bottom line, I am rather disappointed. I actually waited till my violin teacher would test the tuner, and without me saying anything about it but just having it there, he just grabbed it to make sure my violin was in tune, used it, made a few attempts to tune the violin, shook his head and told me to order the Korg TM-40.

This device so far seems to function quite properly, once you figure out how to operate its buttons. Despite implying a relatively low-complexity cognitive interface, this tuner provides a perfect example of not-user-centered and not-user-friendly product design. For example, you have to struggle for some time with its buttons to finally discover where you turn the thing off. You are obliged to learn and to memorize its idiosyncratic logic. The sequence of buttons is also counter-intuitive. There are different functions (whose mutual association is not logical, nor intuitive) which, however, share the same physical buttons. Why have a poor, frustrating design, when good design is not any more expensive to manufacture?

The other reviews are accurate. The product does exactly what it says, and unless you are prepared to spend twice as much, expect what the other reviews say you'll get. I didn't expect more, and can live with the delays of readings, the interferance from outside noise, etc. It helps me tune the fiddle, and that is all I expected.

Quirky jumpy LCD but can tune okay. Better to use a tone-generator.

I ordered the tuner pictured above, the seller sent me a completely different model entirely. didnt email me to ask me if i wanted the model sent to me or if i wanted my money back or wanted to wait till the model i ordered became available. i was very displeased with this purchase.

I have purchased several guitar/violin tuners, but this one is the best bu a long way. And the temperature/humidity function is really nice to have as well. I even use it to check the tuning on my flute.
