Can I use passive subwoofer without external amplifier

Good question.. It is possible to use a pair of channels off the Denon AVRX850H to drive a passive sub as long as you have the channels available to do so. The passive subwoofer would also need to have a stereo input and a passive crossover in order to work in this configuration.. Typically a passive subwoofer would not be used in this application..

Does this require a separate power amplifier? Can one be used with it?
