Well made, but did not work for my job
I bought this for use in my B5.5 2004 VW Passat GLS. I was replacing the factory radio with an aftermarket unit. The Scoche adapter harness clipped right in to the factory harness and I had no problem connecting everything. The literature that comes with the adapter was very helpful, and the pre attached connectors were much appreciated and a very nice touch. Everything worked as intended … except the new stereo would not turn off when the car was turned off. We opened and closed the doors and locked the car and waited a few minutes, but the unit remained on. I looked around online and it seems that this is a common problem. The solution seems to be to run an entirely new cable from the fuse box, or to buy a harness with a computer board attached. I bought the Metra XSVI-9003-NAV Non-Amplified Non-OnStar Harness to Retain Accessory Power, 8.00in. x 3.15in. x 2.40in. On Amazon and the problem is fixed. It’s only $50-something and we’ll worth the investment.

Says fits 2000-2007 X5, it does not work if you have navigation
The connector looks totally different then a 2005 bmw X5 with the factory installed navigation. It uses 2 small plugs not 1 large one like this. And btw; I found out it's not actually a 'radio', it's a control unit, the radio is integrated into the vehicle and replacement is not really an option. Ended up having to get a replacement lcd screen put in the factory radio.

Gets the job done, except manual power down.
Here we go again...I bought a sweet Passat wagon with a stock cd player. Don't get me wrong the preamp and everything sounded great, but it did not have an Auxiliary input, and as we all know it is 2012 an CDs are just not cutting it anymore. I purchased a new deck through Crutchfield and was ready to install it and listen to those sweet sweet MP3s. Those German's know how to discourage you from altering their vehicles. I came to find that I needed this special attachment. As I searched throughout the internet, the solution was buying a similar connector that cost ~$100. I was not ready to drop that much more money on this endeavor. I came across this alternative and read that the only problem is that in order for the new deck to power on and off with the car I would have to rewire something or other to the battery and the ellipses started to roll...and the eyes started to roll to the back of my head...and I decided whatever. After I got the part, it was very easy to install, just a few color coded wire connections and then plug the connector into Volkswagen's connector and abracadabra I was listening to some lovely MP3s. I still have to Manually power on and off my new deck, but it is definitely not as bad as dropping a lot more money than I have.

Not what I ordered. Took ages to come in the post, was listed as 2002+ vw wiring harness but I got one for a chrysler. Found a better product at Halfords for 9 pounds!

Works as expected, no complaints. Very straight forward, colour coded. Connects directly to the OEM wire harness so I didn't have to cut into mine.

The ex-owner installed an after market navigation radio but it did not provide power to the antenna amp, the reception was suck since. This adapter brought the radio back alive, well worth the money.
