The mix of history with related crafts to make is a great combination; and the long history of Japan is broken into easy-to-understand sections around topics like: "Peasant Farmers", "Meals and Manners", "Houses and Homes", "Wood and Paper", etc.One small detail that bothers me, and there might be more that I missed, is on page 25 where the craft is making rice balls. The suggestion and picture show eating them with chopsticks, which is not done. They are finger food!
