This may be just what you're looking for, or it may not.
First, this book isn't for everyone. Not every gaming group will enjoy the material in this book. If you're in such a group, you may never use anything in this book (except maybe some of the descriptors, foci, cyphers, artifacts and other numenera). However, if you have the kind of group that will get excited about crafting and/or community building/fostering, then you'll get a lot of mileage out of this book. The nice thing is if this material isn't for you, you don't have to feel bad passing it over. The new types and numenera items mostly work best in a campaign that uses these rules. If you're running a regular Numenera campaign without crafting or community fostering, you're probably better off sticking the the glaive, jack and nano anyway. Even a lot of the foci and descriptors are made with these rules in mind, and so are less attractive if you're not running a Destiny-type campaign. There's a lot in this book! Three new types are provided--the arkus (leader/party face), the wright (crafter) and the delve (explorer). There are a lot of descriptors and foci as well (some of which we've seen in other books, like Character Options). There are also new cyphers and artifacts, a few new adventures, and some example communities the PCs could engage with (although they're not very deeply detailed). There are lots of recipes for various numenera items PCs can build, including cyphers, artifacts, installations (devices fixed in a location), vehicles and automatons.I think the crafting and community rules look interesting, but I haven't had a chance to playtest them yet. I'm really curious how players would react to them. The crafting is very similar to that in RPG video games, complete with materials you have to quest for. I'm not sure if players will love that, or if it will get tedious and boring. I like how some of the crafting materials for numenera also do useful things by themselves, so they can be treasure in their own right.I'd really like to playtest this stuff, but from reading it, it looks promising, and I think the crafting and community rules would be a lot of fun with the right group of players. It does definitely fill a void that was in the game, as in, what is the point of exploring? Now the PCs have a point to exploring, and they can build or help a community in the Ninth World and craft their own numenera.

Solid expansion to a beguiling system
I didn't think I'd get on with Numenera, but I ended up loving it. The system is relatively simple, offers lots of different progression routes, and the rules give you a huge sandbox to play in. The artwork and concepts just worm their way in to your mind, and with a good GM running things there's always something new and unexpected.Destiny offers three more character types, along with new abilities, focus and descriptors you can use for these or your existing PC options. The book is heavily orientated to community creation - having your PCs adopt or create a fledgling community, helping it grow, assist in protecting it and developing it through crafting structures and numenera installations. The book explicitly states it was intended to capture the 'world building' element of games like Fallout 4 (only in the Numenera setting), so if this is of interest to you, then this book is vital. If not, there's adventures, artifacts, vehicles, installations and new character options, plus a few new beasties that might be of interest; but the main 'meat' is given over to the community rules, how to interplay longer term tasks with game sessions, and the crafting rules. Personally, I find it great fun and the production standards, artwork and extent of the book is second-to-none.

The 2nd core book
The second core book along side Numenera Discovery.Numenera is a great system. Using Monte cook games' cypher system it is easy to learn subtle to master and works great at the table. If you are looking for a system to run a post apocalypse game like the Fallout or Madmax worlds this is a great system to pick up.The system runs on a d20 but all you will need is 1d20 and 1d6, that's it. If you are the GM then you don't need any dice at all.I highly recommend it.
