Freeze dried Strawberries Great taste and texture, but only lasts a few days without beginning to become stale. The screw cap doesn’t create a good enough seal to prevent air from getting in and out. If they were sealed a bit better like in a bag of some sort they would last longer and I’d be more tempted to get them again, so I’d only recommend these if you’re going to eat them all at once. Before becoming stale these were like just about any other freeze dried strawberries, and fairly in-line with the pricing of other brands too.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: All strawberries were broken and did not look like product picture

On the plus side, the container I received was well sealed. It had a modest amount of powder at the bottom, but most of the strawberry slices were intact. The dull and muted red color is normal for freeze dried strawberries, and the flavor is sweet and delicious. However, the texture was a mixed bag with some of the slices being perfectly dried and crispy while others were semi-soft and rubbery. A soft or rubbery texture in freeze dried strawberries could indicate that the batch didn't have an adequate final dry time. Strawberries need a lot of extra time to dry adequately since their tiny seeds hold moisture. Failure to dry them long enough to remove the moisture completely results in soft, somewhat pliable pieces that still contain some moisture. Retained moisture provides a breeding ground for mold growth and batch spoilage. It could also be caused by an improper seal or delay in vacuum sealing which allowed for humid air to reintroduce moisture back into the product - and the result is the same. Moisture leads to accelerated spoilage. Since freeze drying strawberries is trickier than other foods, I prefer to buy them rather than process them myself (though I have a freeze dryer). Due to the concerns I have about whether these strawberry slices were dried enough before sealing, I can't recommend this brand.

The bite-size strawberry slices came in a lot of powder, diminishing appearance and leading me to remove a star from the review. The freeze-dried pieces have a good crunch and decent red color. The strawberry slices are very easy and convenient, being ready to enjoy or add straight out of the jar. It is great that there are only two ingredients, strawberries and sugar. I've been adding these to my homemade yogurt to add strawberry flavor without all the additives, preservatives, or emulsifiers. Great combination, and I prefer the taste over store-bought. The best by date of my order is 03/21/2027 which is almost 2 years from my order date, but I don't think any will be uneaten by then. Easy addition to the pantry.

Strawberry slices that come in a decent container and can be eaten as is or added to drinks to add a bit of flavor. Nice and easy to use and they seem to be of decent quality

I received these a few days ago and immediately checked the jar to see if it was open (I noticed some reviewers had that problem.) It appears I was fortunate because mine was still fully sealed. The seal did come off with relative ease compared to some seals, but it was at least fully adhered to the jar. -The taste is good: Mainly sweet but with an occasional tart tang in there. They are a bit sweeter than others I have ordered in the past. Stay tuned for why that is true. -The crispy texture is good (it's my favorite part of freeze-dried foods.) -The color is darker than I like to see (or, expect to see) with freeze-dried strawberries. I order them on a regular basis and these are the darkest I have seen. I am sure it makes no nutritional difference but it's kind of disconcerting when you're used to a more vibrant red. Most of all: The thing that bothers me quite a bit is the fact that it has added sugar. This is very important to disclose on the listing, which currently says "100% All Natural Crispy Fruit." So, I would not order again due to that. In my opinion, Freeze-dried berries don't need that extra sugar, as they are great on their own. And some people can't or don't want to eat added sugar!

Gross. Do not buy.. They are not freeze dried.
