The clamp fully supports a heavy rifle, the legs are very sturdy. Im was worried about the over all height as I am 6'4" and wanted to be able to shoot this comfortably while standing. When the legs are fully extended it is the perfect height for me, so if you are over 6'4" this would not be perfect for you. So far seems to be a great value for the price.
