Q: with the included attachments, can one use this as their main home (carpet) vacuum? And do any of these attachments work as a floor brush on carpet

I do not think it would be optimal for home use. Vacuums for rooms typically have wheels on them where as these do not. It would take a significant amount of extra exertion to make this work like a home rug. In a pinch though, you could probably make it work.
