Q: Do the suitcases expand?

It does not expand but it can hold a lot of stuff

Q: what is the exterior material?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it seems like a plastic without the plastic look. I reviewed the description material from the product and it's called ABS. "Why is ABS a good plastic? ABS is very structurally sturdy, which is why it is used in things like camera housings, protective housings, and packaging. ABS is a good choice if you need an inexpensive, strong, stiff plastic that holds up well to external impacts." So far it's holding up.

Q: II threw away the instructions on how to set the code for the lock. Any suggestions?

Good luck. I couldn’t set it with the instructions. Once I figured it out I couldn’t unlock it

Q: does it come with keys

No keys but it has a 3 digit code used to open it. The code is preset but comes with instructions on how to change them.
