Columbia Men's North Plains Trail Shoe

I bought a pair of these shoes on Amazon two and a half years ago because my only other pair was some tattered skate shoes. After that much time I decided I needed a replacement pair before they broke. The new shoes arrived yesterday and they are the same as the first pair when they were new. I have never once slipped and fallen in these shoes though I've come close a few times, the tread has more space between grip sections than normal shoes so when you step on smooth rounded rocks on old sidewalks remember they are very slippery when wet but other than that, the treads grip everything in sight. I see people saying these shoes are "water resistant" well they are, just no more than any regular tennis shoe. I use these shoes everyday and that won't change until they stop selling them.

I bought this shoe in December 2013 and finally starting wearing them recently. This is a surprisingly nice shoe for the price if a little short and narrow - for me. Nevertheless they flex well and are not uncomfortable. Added to that they are lightweight which was not what I was expecting from the pix and no information was provided on that aspect. Also the toe is more rounded (than pointed) than expected but again that's no big deal, in fact I prefer that. The sole has great grip altho' I've yet to test on wet grass - I intend to use as a golf shoe as much as everyday. The lacing system allows me to leave it tied (ordinary as-provided laces) and slip in and out of, as I usually like to without any problems. The colors and appearance is attractive and subdued, as I prefer. The shoe seems well-constructed (like my previous long-wearing Sketchers) but only time will tell how they perform. But to date I'm very please with these.

I really wanted to like these shoes. Overall they look fantastic. They have reasonable arch support. But they are only comfortable for short amounts of time. I bought them for a vacation when I was planning on doing a lot of walking (>20,000 steps per day) and wanted a comfortable shoe. they just didn't work. i tried multiple times, but they just killed my feet. i even tried replacing the insoles and they just don't work for me. There appears to be a hard spot on the front right of the shoe where they change stitching styles and that spot starts to aggravate the outside of my foot within an hour or two of walking. I'll keep them for bumping around the house and running errands, but they're not the heavy use shoe I was looking for when I made the purchase.

To make sure my memory of the feel of the shoe was correct I put them on over a pair of mid-weight cushion soled socks. I then walked down stairs, out on to the porch and down a fairly steep incline and then back up, in and to my computer. I had previously worn them on a shopping expedition, driving to town, walking around a big box store and then home. Total time in the shoe was around three hours. First the the good: The shoes are attractive and seem to be well built. Traction is pretty good. The laces are of an appropriate length. They breathe well. Now the bad: My size eight, medium with feet are not well supported. The area under my toes seems rough and my toes rub the end of the toe box. Going down the incline caused my foot to slide forward, further cramping every toe. That does not happen in Tevas that I just changed out of to do the evaluation. I will be returning the shoes.

This is my 3rd pair of Columbia North Plains, and my umpteenth pair of columbias. I wear a size 16, so my options for outdoor-type shoes are limited. These are just fantastic. Sturdy but not too heavy, solid tread, and excellent support. Great for casual wearing, great for hiking, and probably everything in between.

I had tried on some similar Columbia trail shoes in the store before I bought these on line as I have (or had) a narrowish foot. These seem to fit well. Plenty of room in the toe box. Length at 10.5 is spot on. Laces adjust enough to provide a snug width fit.Shoes appear to be well constructed. Nice looking. Adequate padding. Only time will tell how well they hold up.I was surprised that they seem to provide a good grip on my sailboat as I anticipated the lug sole not holding well on such a surface when I unexpectedly found myself on my boat with them on. Surface was dry so can't tell how they would do on a wet boat surface. But they were not purchased for that purpose.

Compared to similar shoes from North Face and Merrell these Columbias are looser all around, and have more of an old school walking boot footrest - i.e. flat-ish without much of an arch bump. This is not necessarily a bad thing; the forefoot gives a nice energy return and the shoes are good to walk in. Plus, the general looseness means you can easily put in an aftermarket innersole if you wanted.Although the Columbias cost much less than those others, I think the materials and build quality are the equal of the pricier brands. I did get a little sense that they are slippery on wet stone - not concrete - like another reviewer wrote. All in all these are good commuting - dog walking - city trekking shoes.

Die bequemsten Schuhe die ich je hatte. Ich trage die Dinger schon 4 Monate fast täglich beim Sport mit dem Hund und da geht es ganz schön zur Sache. Bis jetzt ist noch nichts kaputt oder gerissen. Einziger minus Punkt sind die Schnürrsenkel, sind leider etwas zu lang und gehen gerne auf.

Con la compra. Comodas y aparentemente de buen material. Hasta ahora sin problemas, unicamente me falta probarlas en un días lluvioso y esperar que no entre agua.

Der Schuh ist ordentlich verarbeitet und passt gut.Aber NULL Wasserdicht, zwei Tropfen und man hat nasse Füse.Keine Ahnung ob ich was in der Artikelbeschreibung übersehen habe, wie auch immer ich kaufe mir den nicht wieder.

It is not waterproof. The top side of shoes below laces is not sealed to make it waterproof. Without waterproofness it is expensive.And also no thermal insulation. Buyer be-aware.

Klasse Schuh, sitz super am Fuß, stundenlanges Wandern ist problemlos, schön leicht und schmutzabweisend. Empfehlenswert und echt gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Kauft den.
