Possibly the best value 4G phone in the market right now
This is arguably the best phone for a digital minimalist given the incredible value for money that this phone provides. The following are the pros and cons as I see them:Pros:- Huge battery life - in a time where a day long battery life seems big, this has about 3 weeks worth.- 4G Hotspot capability - combine this with the battery life and you can be mobile and connected for days.- Cheap - For £37 just buy a couple and keep them as spare.- WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter - while typing out messages on this phone can be a bit of a task, you still have the three major social media platforms available to you.- Google Assistant and Maps - Not the full fledged version but you do still get access to the Google Assistant and Google Maps.- MicroSD expandable storage- FM Radio - use with the included headphones and you basically have free entertainment on the go.- Durable - made from the same polycarbonate as the essential Nokia feature phones, so you know it can take a beating.- Camera - This isn't going to win you photography prizes, but if needed, you have a 2MP camera available to you.Cons:- Not a smartphone - if you're looking for a cheap smartphone, go with the Nokia 1, or Nokia 2.1. This is not a smartphone. It's the smartest feature phone.- App gap - understandably, this feature phone does not have access to apps like Snapchat, Duo, etc. Also games are abysmal (with the exception of Snake).- No front camera.- No premium feel - while the phone does have a cool design, the feel is of course cheap plastic. Hence the low price.- Keypad - this one is slightly personal - I wish the keypad was similar to the Nokia 3310 3G or the Nokia C5-00. The keypad on this is perfectly serviceable, but could be better.Overall, if you're trying to reduce your smartphone usage, either temporarily or permanently, this would be the perfect option for a phone. So trade in your £500 smartphone, buy this £37 one, and take a holiday.

Sufficient to get by with
The Nokia 8110 is a big step down from a smart phone, the main reasons for me getting this over another smart phone was that I have had issues with the past 2-3 smart phones with overheating, short battery life and constant updates taking up space. The main things I need a phone for are phoning people, texting, whatsApp, Facebook and the ability to get online if you need to know something (I used it the first day I had it to find a hospital number as I was running late for an appointment). It is painful to use it for actual browsing but acceptable for a quick browse. Whilst elements are annoying like text input which feels nostalgic but can be fairly quick with predictive text on. If you are looking for a good solid phone like the old Nokia phones then it does this well. Notifications are great and you have a dedicated button and menu with actual texts, download status and works better than smart phones IMO. It has better basic installed apps than some modern smart phones with unit conversion with loads of options and timer / stopwatch with laps, radio, basic music player, notes, calendar, alarm, email, voice recorder etc. Another useful feature is google assistant as you can use it for getting around text inputs and menus which makes it a very capable phone to a point. This phone has Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, Youtube and a load of other apps like weather, original snake, new snake, music transfer, phone copy back up, QR reader, wall papers, ringtones, news, horoscopes, maths training, period tracker (one for the ladies!), BMI calculator etc. Basically a small KaiOS app store with basic old school apps, it seems to be growing compared to a few years ago. Battery lasted me all day with heavy use on the wifi and 4g. I have been updating, downloading, texting, Whatsapping, Facebook and youtube but nowhere near as much as I would be on a smart phone as it does put you off as it requires a lot more messing around which means you only use it when needed. The camera for 2 MP is actually pretty good considering (a lot of reviews have said the same), I have a dedicated camera that cost hundreds of pounds and can optically zoom way further than the best camera phones ,so lets say I don't really care about the camera. A quick snap for Whatsapp or a memory and it is fine. All in all a basic old school phone design with a sub par screen, tiny keyboard and fiddly input but I actually really like it, I don't think I will miss my smart phone, not with a laptop and tablet at home and also having a computer at work. I think we should all maybe try a smart phone detox!
