Real Beef Jerky, better than Jack Links
Old Trapper Beef Jerky is better than Jack Links because there are never soft pieces. It’s dried and tough, not easy to tear off or bite through and has enough flavor but not too much. I find there to be a lot more “crumbs” in JL, where OT has complete pieces. I also like how transparent the bag is so I can see the pieces before opening the bag.

The pepper flavor reminds me of pepper gravy
This jerky is very good. The flavor is good and reminds me of pepper gravy. The texture isn’t my favorite compared to other brands. It has a rough crumbly texture on the outside, unlike some jerkies that are more of a smooth cut. These pieces appear like they were potentially hand cut before dehydration rather than cut with a slicer. I won’t take any stars off for the texture because it’s good jerky and the texture isn’t a huge issue but that is the one aspect that isn’t quite as good with this brand. I just ordered the old fashion to try next, and the texture might be more of the old style of jerky. I just know I’ve made jerky myself and typically it does not get this texture either.

great quality / taste, great price/oz, over 1$/oz less expensive than in-store purchase.
I love this jerky, but my local Publix no longer sells the 10oz (I am aware my order here is for the 8oz), and it is over 1$/oz more expensive. The only problem I have with this product is that I have trouble not eating the entire bag in one sitting.

Good but too salty for me
The beef is good quality. The smokiness is great. However, I find it both too sweet and too salty. If they turned both down about 50% this would be perfect.

Marine Approved Darn Good Jerky!
I have been buying Old Trappers Beef Jerky for well over 15 years and it is always delicious. I love the flavor, tenderness and quality. It is pretty hard to beat Old Trappers Jerky. I have yet to find anything better for the money. From the Ole' Retired Marine, Back Woods of N.E. Wisconsin.

Salty but Tasty, Versatile, Fits Into Most Diets
Let me start with the cons. This is very salty. If you eat it as a snack, you'll need a tall glass of water or another beverage. Alternatively, you can put it in a mug, pour water over it, and fish out the pieces to eat, and then heat the water and drink it as a broth. Or use it to cook with, and use less salt in the recipe. Another downside is that it has sodium nitrite as preservative. I think fear of small amounts of preservatives is irrational, but I also know that for some people, it's a dealbreaker. For me, the presence of preservatives is a plus. In the past, I've had "preservative-free" jerky go moldy on me. Maybe it's just the area I live in, high humidity in the air. I had to store that jerky in the freezer. But this at least lasts long enough for me to be able to eat it! Another pro is that it's high in protein. By weight, it's straight up 50% protein, and by calories, it's 80% protein! It's very low in saturated fat. As long as you don't have an undue fear of preservatives or red meat, this can fit into most diets and help a lot of people meet their health/fitness goals. It's also very low in carbs and has no added sugars, so can fit into low carb and keto diets.

Really good.
A new staters bros market opened up and there was a man handing out sample bags of this jerky so that's how I was able to try it. I liked it a lot so I found a bag on here and bought it. It's not tough to chew like some jerky and it has a very mild flavor. My two carnivore cats also enjoyed this jerky. So overall, I would say it's a win and I would buy it again.

Sad
Omg I'm so torn..... I looooove salt..... And the reviews don't lie.... It is very very very salty. Even for me. At first I was really really really happy and excited that the daunting overwhelming typical sweetness of savory jerky was absolutely absent!!! Which I've always yearned and searched for always. Even better? The meat is so meaty and tender not tough and leathery. Beef is beefing! Flavor wise as well. But second piece took a lot more courage to consume and for the very first time ever in life of any salty snack, I thought a bag of this wouldn't be healthy...... 🥺🥺🥺Idk maybe 100 150 mg less sodium?..... This would be thee absolutely PERFECT JERKY! So I plan to freeze it and eat it here and there sparingly. The portion is also very generous for price and quality. Dang it!
