Satanism: The Seduction of America's Youth
This book's copyright was 1989, so this book was written during the Satanic scare of the 80's & 90's. There are parts of this book that are outdated & have been disproven such as widespread Satanic Ritual Abuse & large organized Satanic groups engaging in organized crimes. WIKEPEDIA has an excellent article entitled, Satanic Ritual Abuse which details much of the history from this time period & helps the reader to understand this man's reasoning. Today we as a nation are much less concerned with the effects of Satanism on our nation as we are worried about teens & young adults joining extreme radical religious groups & engaging in terrorist activity. That being said, this is my take on the book. This author is pointing to the parent's failure & to the breakdown of family values as being the core problem with the youth & he does present suggestions to stave off the problems before they get beyond repair. He does point out the fact that most kids who listen to heavy metal & watch horror movies will never get involved with the occult nor engage in extreme criminal behavior. In most kids recreational drug use will go no further. He is mostly addressing the problems with kids who come from dysfunctional families. He does say that kids who come from homes with an alcoholic parent, those who experience physical & or emotional abuse are likely to turn to cultic activity. Kids who do not have their physical, emotional, or spiritual needs met are likely to turn to the occult. Kids who have experienced physical abouse are likely to reinact crimes that they have seen in horror films. While most heavy metal bands are not Satanists & use lyrics & pentagrams for shock value & entertainment, they are not the least concerned about leading a misguided teen to self destruction. Having worked in a health related industry, I do know that playing with a Ouija Board is dangerous & can lead to mental disorders of depression & anxiety due to a door to the demonic that they have unwittingly opened. Drugs can lead a person into Satanism & once he or she is addicted keep this person in. Mr. Larson does give helpful information regarding warning signs of harmful activity & urges parents to try to open a dialogue with their child at the first sign of trouble. He does point out that the parents need to know what they are talking about when they are talking with their kids & when to reach out to a minister, the police, or the mental health center. Kids do have a void that needs to be filled. He encourages the parents to begin teaching their religious values at an early age. Kids need something to believe in & hope. The parents need to create a warm loving environment. They need to respect their children, make them feel valued, & take time to listen to what they have to say. Parents are responsible for protecting their kids & for teaching them what is harmful & what to avoid. Parents have got to keep the children busy as an idle child will get into trouble. He suggests that the child engage in a combination of spiritual & recreational activities. He also encourages community service. Teens need a purpose & a reason to live. Mr. Larson believes that society needs to love these kids. It takes a village to raise the kids. No child should feel unloved, unwanted, & forgotten.

Informative and eye opening.
I have watched Bob for several years as he expelled demon after demon from members of his audience and was curious of what would be next. This book is not a tell all, but it is a good start into the occult, specially as it relates to the most susceptible: our youth. Buy it, read it. It will open your eyes as a parent and a church member. Learn the secret that YOUR pastor dears not say.

Very Informative
I enjoy Bob Larson's general approach to revealing the deception of Satan because he backs up his opinions with facts, and his writing is no exception. In his Book, Satanism: The Seduction of America's Youth, Larson draws the reader in right away with a personal story, an experience he had, that is so blatantly shocking that you want to read on. Then, as the book progresses, Larson uses scriptures, history, experiences, and his own research to show the reader that even casual 'play' with the occult can be dangerous. This is a book any rebellious teenager (especially those raised Christians) that thinks that rock music, anger and resistance to authority are beneficial, should read. I dare say that it would show them, in an academic and compassionate manner, that rebellion on any level can lead to dangers they may not anticipate at the present.Larson also explains some of the history of Satanism, demons, Satanism's African and Cuban roots, as well as how Wiccan and Witchcraft beliefs are both different and similar to Satanism. All the while, he uses Christian convictions, scripture and his own experiences to back up his arguments and points, thus making any reader who may have been involved in any of the activities related to Satanism, Wiccan practices, Witchcraft, or any of the other offshoots of these, less likely to feel condemned or judged.Early in the book, Larson makes it clear that he wants it to be both a resource for parents of children and teens that may be taking an interest in anything related to the occult, even on a 'curiosity' level, and a book for teens that are involved in the occult already. He speaks, in many places, to the teens in a way that appeals to their need to practical, factual answers, and also addresses parents, teachers and other authority figures in the teens' lives in such a way that forces them to answer serious questions, such as, Have I shown my child was real, unconditional love is? Have I demonstrated God's love and moral expectations to my child by example, in word and in deed? Have I allowed my child to communicate openly with me? Do I allow them to say what they need to without fear of judgement, even if it is hard to hear? Has my home been stable and loving, not abusive to me, as a parent, or them, as a child? Has any form of addiction been displayed in my home, thus possibly inflicting emotional damage to the child or myself, and possibly opening doors to demonic activity at some point in the future for my child? When and if the answer to any of these questions is 'no,' Larson makes both practical and non-judgmental, Godly suggestions to resolving any issues and, all the while, emphasizing that there is still hope for the parent/child relationship that may need restoration. This is a book for the broken, the hurting and those that may want out of Satanism and may not know how. It is also a book for those that are strong in the Lord, who may simply want a Christian prospective on Satan, his ways of lying and bringing people into Satanism and other binding practices. Larson, by examples from his own experience, shows and tells us, as Christians, how to reach those whom Satan has already drawn into Satanism, Witchcraft and wiccan practices, with the hope that Christ offers. My only criticism of the book is that some of the information in it is slightly dated. I wish Larson would consider not re-writing his existing material presented in this publication, but adding to it in an expanded and updated edition. Having said that, I will also state that even if that never happens, Satanism: The Seduction of America's Youth, by Bob Larson, is a book that is definitely worth reading.
