Better than a chalk line but has a learning curve
This is my first ink line and coming from a chalk line I had to learn how to do a few things differently to get it to work. First, a lot of the reviews here state that they are not getting a crisp line. The trick I found is to get a decent amount of tension and just relying on the internal spring won’t work. However if you just squeeze down on the rewind mechanism with your hand you can prevent it from unwinding and get a good amount of tension for a crisp snap. Pressing the rubber sponge squeeze button also helps to saturate the line. Secondly the line is so thin that it can be a bit hard to grab sometimes. I started using a guitar pick to snap instead of my fingers. After using this for a few weeks I noticed it wouldn’t rewind like it used to with the spring. I opened the ink refill door and found that some gunk had built up in the string channel and after a quick cleanup it was back to how it was when I bought it.

Love it
Great at making precise lines. Ink still hasn’t dried out. I decided to use quick drying waterproof stamp ink instead of buying special ink line ink. It’s well made, If you use it with respect and take care of it it should last a long time. I still use a chalk line for rough measurements but the ink like is great when I need to be within 16ths or 32ths

Not the strongest line
I switched from using chalk on my timber frame layouts because the accuracy of the fat chalk line was always dubious. This is the other side of the coin- too faint sometimes. I've tried saturating the sponge, but that just made a sloppy line. Still better than a chalk line but I'm left connecting the dots where the line gets faint.

Works well, nice thin line
I was introduced to this product while taking a corse in timber framing. Since then I have purchased 2 of my own. They work very well leaving a line suitable for laying out joinery the line is thinner than a chalk line and doesn’t leave excess chalk when pulling out the line. Personally, I use orange ink with the line as it doesn’t seem as obvious on light colored wood

For Mosaic tile it’s perfect
I have 3 chuck lines and lines always fade away or it’s tho thick, but this in one totally worth it and if your using on the floor you don’t have to seal the line because it’s not getting faded

Thin lines
Really like the thin lines and ease of use. If you don't mind a little ink on your fingers it's great! Better than chalk lines.

Great little ink line
Nice small line for your bags. I use with Tajima ink. Come with a retractable pin on the end. No excess chalk powder, for those jobs you can not let it fly.

Don't forget to order ink....
Very disappointed that nowhere did it say that this does NOT come with ink. :-( So, I cannot review it's functioning.
