Dogs loved them. Did not shatter into tiny pieces. I have had other cow hooves do this. Great I loved them

Last's a very long time. She prefers the filled ones, but i can fill them myself and freeze them. Cheaper this way

I have been buying animal hooves from a few different species as long lasting chews for my dog for about 3 years. As soon as I opened this bag for the first time, I was immediately hit in the face by a VERY pungent odor that smelled like a mix of rancid teriyaki flavoring and musty horse stalls which I've never had any other hoof chews smell anything like that before. That was strike #1. Then when I offered one to my dog (who usually wiggles herself across the room with excitement when she what's in the bag) ran over to get her chew then after an apprehensive few sniffs, turned it down and walked away. Strike #2. When my dog finally got bored enough to try chewing on a hoof, after a few minutes I kept hearing these cracking and splitting sounds that were alarming to me. So I decided to investigate the status of the hoof and what I saw was almost enough to rush my dog to the vet. In a matter of minutes the hoof had cracked and chipped off in ½"-1½" very sharp thick pieces that not only were the perfect size to swallow by a medium size dog, but they could potentially cause perforations in various organs if she had actually swallowed any. I immediately took the hoof away and gathered all the chips that had separated from the hoof to try and get an idea of how many of the hard sharp objects my dog had swallowed. (I was kinda freaking out at this point and ready to call my vet for an emergency appointment.) Luckily, my dog is beyond smart for a dog and knew better than to eat the sharp pieces that had chipped off, despite them being the perfect size she would normally see as a successful reward for her hard work of chewing. I still called my vet to get her advice and kept a close eye on her for signs of discomfort, distress, or a blockage of sorts for about 2 weeks before I finally felt confident she hadn't swallowed any of the pieces. A BIG strike #3. I immediately returned this product back to Amazon and clearly described a warning that should be given to all potential future customers considering purchasing this product for their pets. If my dog hadn't somehow known the pieces could very likely cause her a great deal of pain, suffering, and could even potentially be fatal, I hate to even think about what would have happened to her. I can't have children of my own and I protect my dog just a fiercely as if she were my kid. So when manufacturers sell a product like this to unsuspecting pet owners without specific warnings included to alert pet owners of the very high risk of possibly fatal consequences of giving these to you pets, its infuriating. The lack of consideration and integrity demonstrated just to make a profit is unacceptable. Period. I DO NOT recommend this product to anyone, for any breed of pet. Spend a couple extra bucks to get high quality hoof chews that don't splinter or chip off in hard, thick, very sharp bite sized pieces.

These are the best stuffed hooves you can buy anywhere. My dog loves them and they are easy to chew compared to any other hooves.
