When I first turned on the light, it thought it was bright but then I cycled through the rest of the settings and found out the lights just got brighter. Very pleased with the purchase and quality for the value

This flashlight works really well. Some "skinny" flashlights are great for narrow field needs, such as looking in a closet for something, or reading a label on a bottle in dim lighting, but they don't help when it comes to needing wide lighting. This one is wonderful! It not only handles the narrow field needs, but it can provide BRIGHT lighting for very wide areas. I used it on a camping trip and it was great because every time we heard a sound and the younger campers got nervous, I simply pointed it toward the woods and they could see as bright as daylight that there was nothing there to be afraid of. It seems to be durable and the power of the light holds as strong for distance and wide fields as it does for narrow, close up tasks. I highly recommend this product!

These are powerful little lights that illuminate as advertised. The charging cords are a bit short but manageable using a desktop computer port. I sent the first 2 back after 3 of us could not get them to operate. Yes, we removed the little cardboard circle preventing battery connection during transport. It took a 20 year old to notice the thin plastic covering over the rechargeable batteries (also preventing contact) when the replacements came. Perhaps this could be mentioned in the directions or with product support through Amazon...just saying.

This is a very handy flashlight with a few quirks. The battery comes with a 800mAh lithium battery, a AAA battery insert, lanyard, and recharging battery cradle. The flashlight zooms from flood to spotlight by extending the end lens. The length extends from 4.5" - 5" or 11.cm - 13cm. When focused in to the smallest beam, the pattern is very visibly a square shape (three slice toaster pattern). I don't have a way to test the light output but I would guess an informal rating of 350lm would be close. First quirk I found is the supplied battery. It comes in a transparent plastic tube meant to prevent rattling when the battery is in the flashlight. The battery is marked (+) and (-) but nothing in the included material or box indicates which end to put in first. I did notice the (+) end has a slight indentation-ring around it so I tried that end first. Nothing. Reversed, nothing. I tested the battery with a DVM. 0 volts. I thought charging it would help. No charging indication. Hmm.. I looked at the battery more carefully and noticed it was wrapped with a protective plastic wrap. Grr.. I removed the protective film and put the (+) end in and everything worked. I then noticed the included Thank You card had some VERY tiny (3pt) print on it. After getting out two stronger and stronger magnifying lens I could read the message (see photo). Mea culpa. The flashlight has five modes (H, M, L, fast flash, SOS). Luckily the flashlight will turn on and off with a single push of the end cap. If you want to cycle through the other modes when the light is on, lightly press the end cap. I personally think these lights should cycle through H,M.L and have a flashing mode that can be activated with a long press of the button. I don't know anyone that has used the flashing feature but perhaps it is helpful for cyclists or emergency use. The final issue is the charger. The battery needs to be removed from the flashlight and placed in the charging cradle. The four slots at the end of the charger all start flashing red while the battery is charging. This can take a while as I measured the current at 133mA, slowing decreasing to 95mA as it finished. This slow charging is good for the battery but agonizing for the user. When the battery is fully charged the four slots turn green. The status lights are fairly bright and can easily be seen from across the room. No tiny pinhole status light here. I like in-flashlight recharging but this adds some complexity and fragility to a flashlight. For a rechargeable flashlight with optional alkaline battery use, I think this is a good price and feature set.
