Knights of Sidonia, volume 2 Paperback – Illustrated, April 16, 2013

The best thing about this manga (besides the outstanding artwork) is the smartly measured pace at which plot details are handed out. Somehow avoiding info-dumping dialog pages, prologue text, or (perhaps worse) tons of action without any story at all, Nihei manages to masterfully tease out details with just enough frequency to keep me mesmerized. It’s all so mysterious and cool that I can’t get enough of it. I really hope that someday, someone can make an animated film in this style, it’s perfect for epic sci-fi.I seldom buy or read comics these days, but anything by Tsutomu Nihei I pre-order far in advance. Fans of his know just how difficult (read: expensive) it is to acquire these after they’re out of print (e.g. BLAME!). This series is excellent and shows no signs of flagging, I hungrily devour each as they are released - I recommend you do the same!

All I have to say is, It is right here in Volume 2 where the story starts to bear fruit. Volume 1 has you deciding whether or not to read on, it leaves you conflicted whether or not this will eventually pay off and the good thing that it does in Volume 2.Many things occur in Volume 2 but in a very natural pace. It feels as though every event that has occurred in the story so far, happens because it does (naturally, not forced).Anyways, its thanks to Volume 2 that I have made the decision to keep on reading Knights of Sidonia. Time to go buy a copy of Volume 3.Bzzzt-Goo-bzzt-bye-bzzzt.

I won't lie to you, it was the TV show that pushed me to the manga!! The show wasn't moving fast enough and this is by far going to surpass that go Sidonia!!

I've been a Tsutomu Nihei fan since Blame! and have been collecting whatever I can from him. Knights of Sidonia (Sidonia no Kishi) has its own flow despite a few similarities to Blame! and it's well worth buying if you're a fan of Nihei's cyber-punk style.On a side note, I am praying omnibus editions of Blame! will be made in the near future because the price of some single volumes are INSANE!!

Definitively good story. It is more original than I had originally thought even when taken into consideration that there really is nothing new under the sun. The art is sleek and the storyline has enough twists and turns to keep you coming back for more. Highly recommend if you enjoy good science fiction manga.

After finishing up volume 2 I must admit that I am now hooked on this series. Volume 2 is just as engaging and exciting as Volume 1 was. The only bad part is that it ends.

Now! So much win!Thank you so much for this amazing work! I feel like the manga has a faster pace than the anime does, and I think I like it better this way. Not sure yet, but I'll keep reading to find out.

Knights of Sidonia is a gorgeously depicted wreck of a sci-fi future. Warning : Any fan of manga and science fiction will be hard pressed to put this story down and will be left craving more. Vertical spoils us with a (high) quality translation, cover and paper, thank you!

Secondo volume di KoS.Tutti i punti di recensione del 1° Volume sono sovrapponibili a questo, pertanto rimando i lettori alla prima recensione.Ulteriori elementi? :- Storia, mentre il primo volume si focalizzava sul presente mostrando la situazione per quella che era senza svelare nulla del background, in questo secondo tomo abbiamo invece un ampio sguardo sugli eventi passati che hanno portato la Sidonia ed il suo equipaggio ad essere quello che è ora. Un buon modo per compensare ad alcune delle diverse domande lasciate in sospeso,- Fisica, il manga continua a rispettare le leggi legate alla fisica, inoltre diversi diagrammi sulla struttura della Nave-Mondo Sidonia consentono di capire come i vari ambienti sono disposti all'interno e come la gravità della nave funziona ai vari livelli,- Personaggi, vengono lentamente approfonditi,- Nemici, i Gauna, vengono sempre più dettagliati nel loro modo di agire e diventano pian piano sempre più inquietanti col procedere del manga.Perchè 4/5 stelle?.Ci sono dei piccoli "contro" anche qui :- Il Tratto Grafico del disegno è sempre molto bello ma con l'aumentare delle battaglie diventa sempre più difficile seguire la dinamica degli scontri e il fatto che il tutto sia ambientato nello spazio, e quindi su uno sfondo nero, e che il manga sia in bianco e nero, non aiuta. Inoltre i Personaggi presentano scarsi elementi facciali di riconoscimento quindi è molto facile, specialmente durante fasi di flashback, confonderli con altri membri dell'equipaggio,- l'Ambientazione, anche qui è sempre molto bella ma ci sono elementi "tipici" della cultura giapponese che saltano un pò troppo all'occhio e rovinano la capacità di mantenere la mente sospesa in quello che dovrebbe essere un setting fantascientifico (per esempio il fatto che, nonostante le persone vivano dentro una colossale nave-mondo ipertecnologica, mentre si cammina per le strade del complesso abitativo ci si ritrovi case e bar giapponesi fatti di legno e carta come quelli che si ritroverebbero in una città sulla Terra del 1900...non sempre e solo in certi punti, però è troppo inverosimile).Detto questo, consiglio anche questo secondo volume e non vedo l'ora di leggere il terzo.

I watched the anime first and bought the manga afterwards.I love this story. A few tiny things differ from the anime. But obviously the manga was first so not to worried and there will always be a few things different.Great story. Action packed and moving.

primo: grazie al servizio sempre ottimo di Amazon, secondo: grazie al venditore che mi ha fatto attendere il minimo indispensabile fornendomi un pezzo in perfette condizioni ( Imparate fornitori come si rispetta la merce...),terzo ma non meno importante, un grazie alla qualità del manga che devo dire, ho lungamente valutato perché non sempre si riescono ad avere tutti i numeri disponibili correndo il rischio di avere una serie tronca, ma in ultimo.....leggete questo manga, solo il nome dell'autore dovrebbe indurvi all'acquisto ad occhi chiusi, ed altro non dico per evitare spoiler, non vedo l'ora di possedere tutta la serie per dedicarmi alla lettura immersiva.. CONSIGLIATISSIMO
