I wasn’t expecting to love this game as much as I do, but it’s honestly such a good time. The LEGO Star Wars humour is spot on — silly, charming, and full of little details that made me laugh out loud. The gameplay is super fun and easy to get into, whether you’re a casual gamer or someone who just wants to chill and smash stuff with a lightsaber. There’s loads to do and I also love that you can switch between characters and explore different parts of the story. Co-op mode is a blast too (and mildly chaotic in the best way). What made this game a winner in our house was the breadth of the adventure. The game covers all nine Star Wars episodes. My son was able to relive the entire Skywalker saga, from the daring escapades of Luke Skywalker to the rise and fall of Anakin. The ability to choose which trilogy to start with allowed us to customize our gameplay, tailoring our experience to our favourite eras of the Star Wars story. A familiar feature for us was the classic LEGO gameplay with a diverse cast of characters, each equipped with unique skills and abilities. The addition of new features and mechanics, however, really heightened our gaming experience. One of the standout features for us was the RPG-inspired upgrade system. Together, we collected Kyber Bricks to unlock new abilities, strategizing about the best way to leverage our characters' skills. The change in perspective was another significant enhancement. Now, with the camera positioned behind each character, the game felt more immersive and intense. This, coupled with the improved aiming and cover mechanics, made the gameplay more engaging for both my son and me. The Amazon.co.uk exclusive edition was particularly exciting because it included the classic character DLC. My son and I had a blast taking turns playing as some of our favourite characters from the Star Wars universe. This really elevated our enjoyment and added a layer of nostalgia for me while introducing my son to characters that I've loved since childhood. While the game offers abridged versions of all nine movies and doesn't include spin-offs, these aspects didn't detract from our overall experience. The game still successfully captures the essence of the Star Wars saga and remains true to the iconic storylines. Positives: - Graphics are incredible with brilliant detail in the 15+ planets you can explore at any point. This emphasised by the use of dynamic lighting, Mustafar a clear example. - Music is fantastic and adds to the worlds and levels alongside their film counterparts. Makes every world feel different. - New combat system is far more complex than previous Lego games, allowing unique combinations for most characters. This feels like a true modern game, rather than a button mash that previous games would adopt. - Size of game; lots of popular characters, most with dialogue and one-on-one interactions that keep you occupied. Would not recommend 'mumble mode' and maintain the dialogue - very funny. - Classic Lego game comedy is still at the heart of the core game Negatives - Some voice acting isn't fantastic; Ben Solo/Kylo Ren a standout for not being close to Adam Driver's iteration. - Some bugs that plague the game; character freezes during Boss Battles, some graphical errors which force - Some levels (especially in the Sequels catalogue) feel weaker than the prequels/originals An opinion I've heard constantly is that this game feels shorter than the older versions of Lego Star Wars - I disagree. Simply put, this game is ultimately for those 12 and under, and the audience playing is well above the target audience planned for. Nostalgia has blinded many into thinking that this should have been a 50-60hr story, when this was never the case. Play it for what it is - a hugely fun kids game with plenty of quality and collectables! Ultimately this is the best Lego Game that has ever been produced and a huge step up in quality!
