My husband has spent decades playing hundreds of different games and this one so impressed us both I felt compelled to share our experience. On the surface the game is simple, fast, fun and filled with meaningful choices. The dice actions are all easily understood and quick to resolve. This creates the kind of memorable moments that are enjoyable even when you don't win: like sending your T-Rex rampaging through the jungle devouring hapless cavemen along the way! Dig deeper though and you'll discover this game is filled with such clever and intuitive mechanics we want to buy copies for all our gaming friends. The interplay of the volcano sliding, dino hatching, game changing dino variety, along with the caveman spawning and maneuvering is simply brilliant. It is worth mentioning, the game board has 16 spaces and 10 of those are scoring regions that can be manipulated to form between 2 to 10 scoring areas based on the random board setup and volcano sliding. And you will see a lot of volcano tremors altering the board if players know what they are doing! All this means you have to think tactically and make the most of each turn and roll. At the same time there is space for some long-term strategy too in the form of dino purchases and how pieces that don't score remain on the board between volcano eruptions. This makes every turn feel meaningful, even when you know you won't be scoring big this round because you'll be setting yourself up to score big in the next round. Or you'll pull off a volcano blitz like my hubby did and leave me stunned! I am thinking a lot of people look at this game and underestimate just how deep the strategy can go. Best of all, the game doesn't overwhelm new or less experienced players like me! It is fun to play, even when my husband was doubling my score. The more I played, the more I began to see how he was doing that, and I am happy to say I now win games too. The journey of simple to learn yet hard to master has been an enjoyable one for us, and it speaks to this game's depth that we both feel we have yet to master this remarkable game. We still have alternative dinos to explore so the replay value on this game is sky high. My hubby loves insanely complex games, but I am happy to say this is a simple game, but it has what he calls, "abundant, elegant emergence". LOL! That is his way of saying, there is more than meets the eye going on in this game and the journey to discovering that is a smooth and intuitive one.

Very entertaining game in a small package. points go quick once you start getting all of your cavemen and dinosaurs out. the volcano is very entertaining to push around and control- however it seems to only go a few spaces as there is mainly only 2 regions that you can score points on. This is now in our travel stack that is always on hand. Pro: Price- game to price is fair, easy to set up and run, not complicated, accessible for younger players, transportable and small footprint, well-made components, open for expansions or house made rules Con: The Tin, only 2 zones to get points unless you have 1 specific dinosaur for the water, could use more tiles

This is an excellent game, nicely produced by Gamewright. It strikes an excellent balance between being simple and engaging. It should appeal to a broad range of people, from those who are generally non-gamers through those who like their games with a little more depth of meaningful actions. Really, it's just fun. The rules are simple, clear, and well laid out. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is the tin it comes in. It's cool, but it doesn't stack very easily with the cardboard boxes in my crowded game storage. Otherwise, top marks from me.

This is a very nice, high quality game with amazing production value. I see Amazon states it is returned often, but I have no idea why! It's cute, fun, and easy to learn. It has just enough depth to be interesting, but not so complex to be a brain burn. Highly recommended!

Came in fantastic condition. Very fun to play and easy to understand. Feels like a family friendly and simple Blood Rage that we can play with our 9 year old! This is heavy enough that heavier duty gamers will still have fun but be easy for more casual gamers won't squirm through a super long teach.
