A good buy!
Its a good little radio, ideal for use in the bathroom, and also small enough to travel with.It has clear sound for speech, and runs on AA batteries.

Nice little radio
Nice little radio. Bought this for my Mum and she's quite happy with it. It has good reception, though there isn't much separation on the wavelength scale and I found it difficult to tune to specific stations. But if you are happy to just roll through the various broadcasts until you find something you like the sound of then this is perfect. I think it is good value and any shortcomings are down to the fact that the price is quite affordable. It's a handy little tranny for the kitchen, or if you need some entertainment on a picnic.

good radio - pleased to be able to get this
good radio - pleased to be able to get this, but the red indicator line that is supposed to move along the bandwithds does not move. It's o.k. because I can fairly easily work out which station is which just by starting at the left and moving along. Is it possible that thesse radios are no longer made by Sony and that this is a second or refurbished radio? Works o.k. otherwise.

Good Radio
Really pleased with this dinky radio. Have tried a few different portables, last one being a Roberts which was dearer than the previous supermarket ones but really no better. All seem to have sound issues after a short while. This Sony is smaller & neater & seems excellent so far (about 3 months). The original batteries still going strong & uses AA which is good. Personally I listen to talking rather than music & the sound is fine for a small radio. Hopefully it will continue working well, I do feel more confident that I have bought a decent one at last! Recommended.

Sony small radio disappoints
I have a larger version of this radio, bought some years ago which is what informed my choice when considering the purchase of a v small radio. Sony's former high quality is lacking - the casing has a cheap, flimsy feel and the sound quality is limited and tinny. V disappointing

sony icf 390 radio
not the size of radio i thought it was ,and not happy that it could not be plugged into mains supply. on the other hand delivery was excellent and quality good. so i suppose the fact that it did not meet with my expectations is down to the fact that i did not read up on it . so zero stars to me.

Great value
Taking account of the price, this deserves a high five!.Easy to tune and doesn't drift off station. I use it in the greenhouse, mainly for radio 4 which, of course, is essentially voice programmes and the sound is very good. Music can sound a bit sharp - especially if the volume is turned up...but what do you expect with a tiny speaker! Excellent value.

Good simple radio for talk stations
I bought this on the strength of another review who, like me, had one of these over a decade ago and was impressed how long they lasted and was surprised they were still made. This is smaller than the one I'd had before but the sound is as good as I remember the other one being. The on/off switch is also the volume dial, which is right next to the tuning dial so it's quite easy to mistune the radio when you want to turn it on. The bigger model had the on/off switch on the top, away from the tuner, which I found more convenient.
