easy to setup and it works
This is the 3rd skimmer I've owned over the last 20 years. The last one I owned needed an air pump and stone/block to create tiny bubbles (great, now I have Don Ho in my head) and a separate water pump. It would work for about a week without being re-tuned as the air stone would gradually clog. I gave up on it a couple of years ago. This one was a dream to set up compared to my last one. Instructions might have been clearer, but Google knows all, so that wasn't really a problem and there really aren't a ton of parts and configurations to figure out anyway. I did like the option that allowed me to reposition the intake: that saved my bacon on fitting it in a smallish sump. Dropped it in, started the dial in the middle and waited. I've made some minor adjustments since, but I've pretty much returned it back to the first setting I had it on. I thought there was too much water in the collector after the first day but, after emptying it via the drain hose (love that feature) and getting a whiff of what was removed, decided that what I got definitely didn't belong in the tank! Or near anyone's nose for that matter. Yikes that was aweful. Hmm. Hey honey, come smell this!So it works well in my 90 gallon FO tank. It's easy to set up. It appears to be well constructed. And it's quiet! Can't think of what else to ask from a skimmer.

Quiet, effecient, effective and compact.
Skimmer is awesome. Been running for about 12 hours and already has a nice green sludge collecting in the cup. I’mAssuming I’ll be fine tuning it for a couple days or so, but that is to be expected. Instructions are pretty minimal but enough to provide assistance. Seems to be made of good material, and I hope it lasts a while. I had pretty clear water in my 55 gallon marine tank before I installed the skimmer in my 13 gallon sump, but i have honestly seen better water quality after the installation. I didn’t think the water could get any clearer or cleaner, but I’m a big fan so far. Was choosing between the RO 110, and this one, and although I’ve never used a RO, I’m glad I got this one. The only time I can actually hear it running is when I’m close enough to it to empty the cup. Zero noise added to my setup, only thing I can hear is the light trickle of my overflow box. Very happy with the purchase.

Inconsistent
Firatly, I’ve had many brands of protein skimmers...and I have had a tank for over 10 years. The minute I got this one it ran great for the first half hour and then all of a sudden it shot bubbles up and as you know filled the cup up within seconds.I turned it off turn it back on did the same thing; the water level has not changed, I've added nothing to the tank. Again, 10 years of experience with PS's.I’ve even adjusted it by putting it all the way down in the sump versus having it on a stand underwater, therefore manually changing the water depth and pressure of skimmer sees.Even after getting the ideal water, pressure, bubbles going to just below the flange, an hour later it goes crazy again. with the skimmer, all you can manually adjust one knob. So when I have it dialed in, I touch nothing and an hour later it’s running horribly againThis is by far the worst one I’ve purchased and I’ll be returning it

This skimmer is friggen awesome. It fit into a cramped space in my sump. The way the pump goes inside the base instead of outside makes it so much easier to move around and set up. Even more impressively, it is completely silent. At first I didn't think it was even working until I realized it was filled up with bubbles. No splashing, no sucking noise from the air intake... it comes with a drain tube for the collection cup, which I had been planning on doing myself except that they did it for us. I've been running it less than a week and it is already putting out dark thick skimmate. I can't think of anything else I can say, but it hit every note I was looking for even better than expected, came in at a great price point, and my tank is already thanking me.

Magus Curve 5 Works Well
The Bubble Magus Curve 5 works well. I went from a Reef Octopus after that pump failed and this skimmer, for the price is comparable. The only challenge I faced with this skimmer is that it was difficult to get it tuned. At one point, the filter started over flowing and no matter what setting I put it on, the foam just kept pouring out over the top. I eventually raise the filter from about 7" to 5" and that helped. Then after a few weeks, I had to lower it back to 7" where it sits now and produces pretty good skimate, although so far, it is not as dark and thick as I would like.So I hope now that it stabilizes. It was easy to assemble and I like that the pump is inside the skimmer which makes the overall footprint smaller than my Reef Octopus. There is no "throat" at the top of the body of the skimmer, so it is difficult to see the foam at the top of the column to fine-tune the bubble volume and size. All you have to judge the setting is what comes over the top of the cup and by that time, its too late to know how your setting effects the bubble size. The adjustment knob is easy to tune, but the last tiny bit of adjustment is a bit finner than is possible with the big plastic tube allows. Just the slightest turn can jump the foam production from too little to too much very quickly. I may still buy a replacement pump for my Reef Octopus and go back to that skimmer, but all in all, I am happy with my purchase; especially for the low price.

Good value
I'm giving 5 stars based on value for dollar. This is an inexpensive skimmer. The directions in English will make you giggle. It is very quiet and does seem to like deeper water. After less than 24 hours I'm getting good skimmate. I have a low stock 90g display with just two clowns. After a few weeks here it seems the skimmer had trouble getting enough air. I hooked up an air pump and it's working really well now. I dont know if I set something up wrong but am very happy with my modified results.
