Hard to tell if it seats properly in a whole house water filter system.
You lose sight of the gasket when you put the housing containing the filter into the threaded area during installation. You pray it seats properly the first time. Sometimes it doesn't and you can't tell till you pressurize the system. By then it's too late and you and your area get a little wet. Then you have some cleanup to do. Not the gaskets fault. If the gaskets properly seated it does not leak. It's a crappy design of the filter housing by Aquapure.

Good gasket
It fit and it works just like it is supposed to. I change the gasket out every time I change the filter, which is about once a year for me. I fought and fought with the gasket one time, never again. Also, use the food grade silicone lubricant on the gasket before you put it in. It's a bit pricey, but it will help the gasket seal and will help avoid it bunching up when you tighten the filter housing down. Change the darn thing out when you change the filter, you'll save yourself a headache!

Fits
Pretty straightforward- it's a gasket and it fit. Works.

Can't live without 'em....
A gasket, oh boy! Works as expected and certainly didn't want to be without a backup.

Does not fit at least some AP801 sumps
It appears that there are at least three separate housing/ "sump" designs that are identified (including, for some of them, on labels permanently affixed to the units). These are all "AP801", not "AP801B" or something else. I've got two different ones, dating from the mid-1990s. One seems to expect a gasket that has a rectangular cross-section, i.e., not an O-ring at all. If there were no other issues, an O-ring might fit. The other expects an O-ring, but the circumference of these is too large for either -- it just cannot be fit into the groove on either unit but the portion inserted last ends up hanging out. I assume these might fit the third, but have no examples here. The web site should at least note the problem and, preferably, supply a way to tell the units apart. And I'd be delighted to buy some gaskets / O-rings that actually fit

thinking it was the rubber gasket that has gone bad. Well
I bought this in an attempt to fix a leak in my Vitamix 5200 ... thinking it was the rubber gasket that has gone bad. Well, this wasn't the problem. My wet blade assembly was the problem and leaking from the center. This gasket fits the wet blade assembly perfectly though!
