Coffee or tea? That seems to be the choice these days. OK, for those as like it, chamomile or other herbal infusions, but for those who want the caffeine that is in tea and coffee, what choices are there? Well, quite a few as it turns out. Mate is possibly one of the better known ones - comes from a relative of the holly, and grows in central and south America. The pack is LARGE - so although the price may seem steep, it is not bad value for money. And the taste? It tastes like - itself. A very pleasant aromatic flavour, refreshing, and I would say it has hints of vanilla as well as other complex flavours. It isn't coffee, it isn't tea - it is a new beverage and I personally like it. There is also a North American variety (Yuapon) but getting it is tricky - if an Amazon seller would like to bring that in to sell at a decent price it would be worth it. But for now, we have a 'third way' when we want a caffeine beverage - Mate is here and it is definitely worth tasting.

Although it's slightly bitter, it tastes great with a dollop of honey and it works. Sometimes I have it hot and sometimes cold with slices of lemon and orange in it. Yum yum

Opened the bag and was welcomed by a small cloud of dust. I have tried different kinds of brewing utensils but so far only by filling empty paper teabags with the tea makes it drinkable by making it so you don't swallow all the deposits that are so small it floats making it soup instead of tea. If there's any holes in the mesh/net/press/bombilla you WILL get a mouth full of the dust with the sip of tea and you will not like it. Ok taste, dunno about the energy part of the tea, I'll have to continue drinking it more days to evaluate that. Next time I will try another brand that's hopefully not that dusty.

Dommage que les frais de port ont fortement augmentés. Autrement très énergisant, améliore significativement mon attention. Chez moi l'effet dure environ 9 heures avec comme dosage une petite cuillère à café chaque matin au petit déjeuner. Bon goût, meilleur que du Yerba Mate seul. Ce maté n'est pas bio et il comporte de la poussière (peut-être s'agit-il de la poudre de guarana ?) et des branches mais cela ne me gêne pas.
