Knife Sharpener Set Arrived Safely
This Japanese knife sharpening set arrived in perfect condition. The dual-grit stone (1000/6000) and angle holder look like a well-thought-out combination for achieving a really sharp edge. Excited to try it out and see if it lives up to the 'KING' trademark's reputation for quality and long-lasting sharpness. This review represents my personal opinion and experience with this product. Sharpened my good knife with the help of the plastic guide
As a newbie I was looking for an inexpensive quality stone to learn to sharpen my good knives. The instructions are pictorial and recommend holding the knife at a 45 degree angle and sweeping it in an arc. I missed that the first time around as I didn't pay attention to the packaging. The included plastic angle turned out to be necessary as my skill at holding the knife at an angle has yet to mature. The plastic angle allowed me to get a consistent shape on the blade with the course brown side and then sharpen it with the white fine side. After a few swipes I rinse the stone to get the debris off and add water to the surface. I read somewhere else where its important to flatten the stone after (or before) use. I purchased a diamond flattening 'stone' that removes the marks and scratches from the stone and restores the smooth surface. Having sharpened my knives a few times, I haven't yet noticed a significant reduction in the thickness of the stone.Overall its a good buy and I am enjoying learning a new skill. Hopefully I will be able to lose the plastic guide in time.

Great Whetstone For The Price
This is a great whetstone overall. It used to be cheaper in the past (less than$30) but at the current price it's still a decent whetstone considering you're getting a two for one deal. Packaging was just a single layer of bubble wrap. No damages once received, so I guess I was lucky. A note to beginners, if this is your first whetstone, be careful! It is very soft and might damage easily if you're too rough with it. My suggestion is just get a cheap Chinese whetstone until you get comfortable with your sharpening skills.

Works Best with Mineral Oil
Instructions are included, but i felt the instructions provided did not produce the best sharpened edge. After discussions with a butcher friend, he told me to use mineral oil and a little more pressure. After trying this, the results were much much better and now i use this stone every month to give a fresh edge to everything in my kitchen.

Beautiful stone and worth the price
A beautiful stone made of good quality materials and that does the job well. It's a long way to send it to where I am and this arrived in one piece with no chips or anything, so good job with the packaging. I use it to sharpen all my knives. Works particularly well with carbon steel though.

King knife sharpener beats Kamikoto sharpener!
10 stars and I highly recommend King knife sharpener! After my divorce with my Japanese husband 20 years ago, I finally opened boxes and boxes of my belongings from Tokyo. I completely forgotten my Kamikoto and Sushimen knives. I need a sharpener and decided to purchase King knife sharpener which is Made in Japan. It is well-priced and delivered to my needs. I cannot be happier with my decision of not buying the Kamikoto knife sharpener which cost more than $200! Hands down to King sharpener. I will use it for the years to come.
