Scooter only runs for 1/2 an hour before the battery dies on it. I will not be making any further purchases at Amazon because I can"t return the scooter for a refund !!

I ordered this scooter for my daughter who is 9 years old. She is 60 pounds and about 4 and a half feet tall. When the package arrived I was worried as it was really, really taped up with packing tape - looking like it had been returned and taped up. Upon opening it though - I realize it was brand new - and the original box - the way it is made is no appropriate for shipping as it could open very easily - hence all of the extra packing tape to secure it shut. It took a good 10 minutes to assemble the scooter. All tools are (supposed to be) supplied - mine was missing the philips screwdriver. No worry. There is quite a large, explicit warning telling you that if you do not charge the battery for at least 12 hours, and inflate the tires you will void your warranty. So, charged over night. As a note - when I plugged the battery in to charge -it indicated 'green' - or fully charged within 2 minutes. Again - the packaging says explicitly, even if you plug the scooter in for the first charge and it shows as charged - you must continue the charge for 12 hours. Done. Inflated the tired. Time to ride! I rode the scooter first to be sure there were no issues. I'm 5'9", 150lbs. No problems at all - and I had a lot of fun actually. I rode it for about a mile, just to make sure it works well. The only issue I have - is that the throttle works - even if the scooter is standing still. so, if you are stopped, say off the scooter talking to a friend and accidentally twist the throttle the scooter will take off. It's just different than scooters I am used to where you must kick first to get some speed going for the throttle to work. The throttle seems to be all or nothing. It's like flooring the gas pedal in your car, or foot completely off the pedal. There is no cruising at a medium speed unless you unit, throttle off and coast... gun it.... coast... At full speed, it's a bit twitchy - and this is due to the lightness of the from of the scooter and the narrow handle bars. My daughter could not sit on the seat and touch the ground so we had to remove it until she is comfortable operating it as a kick scooter. She had a blast, although she said she was surprised at how fast it went. If you've used brakes on a mountain bike or similar, you will have no issues with these brakes. I'll be connecting a Garmin 500 to the scooter to keep track of what kind of usage I get out of a full charge, and will update this review in the future once I have some data. I mean, what kind of usage my daughter :) gets out of a full charge.

Now that I've had the scooter for a couple of weeks, I feel it's a good time to write a review. I'm in college. I'm 5'3" and weigh 118 pounds. This scooter is the perfect size for me. In fact, like another reviewer who is my height said, my feet almost don't touch the ground when I'm sitting on the seat. So please keep that in mind if you are thinking of purchasing this scooter for a child. This scooter is powerful and fast. It easily makes it up average hills. It will not climb steep hills but you can help it along by kicking. The battery lasts a long time for me. I haven't kept time, but I can make it around town and back and still have charge left. It's easy to combine coasting and power to make the battery last longer. The handlebars don't adjust in height. It's a big scooter. It weighs 60 pounds. You will need to leave it outside when you reach your destination, so you'll need a good lock. It needs to charge for at least 12 hours when the battery is low. Unfortunately, there is no battery indicator. I love the color. It is pink with little flowers and super cute. I receive compliments about it all the time. I attached a removable wire basket to the seat post (it faces backwards). You may want to consider one, too, because it's handy when you need to carry books, groceries, etc. The scooter is great fun! It's good for the environment, too. I would totally recommend it to other college students. I use this for quick errands and then take the bus or carpool if I need to go somewhere farther. I would also recommend it to teenagers who can't drive yet because you don't need a license for this and the freedom you gain is priceless. Amazon shipped this quickly and I received it in less than a week. Great price, great company.
